Position Description

The Qualified Analytical Tool (QAT) Validation Analyst is responsible for executing best-practice QAT validation activities to ensure QAT's across Ally are conceptually sound relative to their intended use and performing appropriately.

Job Responsibilities

  • Validate the performance and controls of QAT's across Ally.

  • Identify risks and provide recommendations to mitigate those risks.

  • Document and present findings to QAT and Model validation leaders.

  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with participants / stakeholders within Ally's model risk management community.



  • Master's degree in finance, economics, statistics or related field required


  • 1 -- 2 years in financial services or related industry experience; Spreadsheet validation-specific experience highly desired

Technical Competencies

  • Familiarity with market, credit and/or operational risk measurement methodologies and quantitative analytics

  • Ability to assess QAT conceptual design and controls, theoretical underpinnings and assumptions, QAT owner controls over data flows, QAT execution

  • Demonstrated analytical approach to complex processes

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel is required. Knowledge of Access and SqL and SAS is preferred but not required

Personal Competencies

  • Adept at working in a multi-faceted organization

  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills

In addition, the Quantitative Analyst provides highly specialized quantitative analytical and modeling support at the assigned line(s) of business.
