Job Summary and Description of Duties:

Under the direction of Quality Management, this leader must work closely with the other members of the quality team to provide support in both departments (Cool Whip and Lunchables). This position and associated responsibilities help to ensure food safety and quality. Responsibilities include overseeing the labs and training/ overseeing employees assigned any Quality or Microbiological tasks. Leaders will be required to continually contribute to the improvement of quality processes, programs, and systems.

Job Specifications:

  • Communicates and troubleshoots (as necessary) with production and provides support in solving food safety and quality-related issues.

  • Understands Quality Systems and KHMS (Kraft Heinz Management Systems) Standards

  • Supports continuous improvement of the Quality System through the KHMS process, and owns standards as assigned.

  • Understands Interpretive Guidelines for FSSC, FDA and USDA

  • Participates in internal (Kraft Heinz) and external (regulatory & third party) audits, as necessary.

  • Performs audits of plant facility conditions, housekeeping, GMPs, and sanitation practices and/or oversees activities of trained Quality Auditors.

  • Communicates findings from GMP Inspections with the management of the area inspected.

  • Manages corrective action follow-up and verification activities from GMP inspections.

  • Performs document control coordination/activities.

  • Assists in auditing lot accountability and product traceability (i.e., mock recalls)

  • Participates in finished product grading or first production record reviews.

  • Performs Hold and Release activities.

  • Assists in the development, administrating, and evaluating of Quality training programs - Including but not limited to: GMPs, HACCP, weight control, Allergen, Food Defense, etc.

  • Assists with problem-solving, action planning, and new product commissioning.

  • Prohibits knowledge and proficiency in Commercialization Process activities.

  • Performs Agile Specification review and adherence activities.

  • Performs environmental/product testing with feedback to operations and assists in developing action plans/programs when test results do not meet required standards.

  • Assists in coordination of environmental sampling, and management of microbiological corrective actions.

  • Maintains microbiological lab in compliance with the MEM Programs for Avon approved by Corporate Microbiology.

  • Maintains skills in the field of Microbiology, applying technological applications.

  • Performs Vidas testing for pathogens. Participates and maintains proficiency through Kraft Heinz quarterly proficiency testing.

  • Maintains Microbiological lab supplies and inventory while assuring supplies meet site needs.

  • Maintains lab equipment through coordination of site and contract maintenance programs.

  • Maintains calibration for specific equipment within the plant as scheduled.

  • Verifies inbound raw material Certificate of Analysis as required by the program.

  • Responsible for continuous learning and education, attending required training sessions (travel may be required)

  • Maintain skills necessary to provide a backup for all functions within the quality department.

  • Participates on/or leads Quality Auditors, as assigned.

  • Must be able to provide Quality support on off shifts, as necessary.

  • Assists with other duties as assigned by the Quality or Compliance Manager.

Experience and required skills:

  • Effective communication- verbal and written.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, conducting oneself in a professional manner, able to resolve interpersonal conflict.

  • Proficient computer skills

  • Reliable attendance.

  • Flexibility in schedule as required by Quality Management (i.e., auditing, quality coverage, vacation support, and other duties as assigned)

  • Time management - must handle multiple situations at one time and be able to prioritize.

  • Exhibits initiative.

  • Manufacturing Experience (Operations, Quality, or equivalent).

  • Must receive Microbiology Lab Training Qualification (Proficiency training provided by Kraft Heinz).

  • Training and employee development, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • HACCP and/or PCQI Certification

  • Food Manufacturing Experience

Work Environment & Schedule:

  • This position is considered a Manufacturing plant environment with heavy machinery and equipment Additionally, this role requires shifts, weekends, and all required overtime as needed.
  • Instructions: Describe the work schedule with specified start and end times of the shift and describe any scheduling nuances that are required (rotating shifts, weekend/holiday, etc.).
