The FIX client connectivity team provides a service to on-board external clients and exchange to trade via FIX with Barclays via the equities ecommerce trading platforms, (e.g. banks, large international corporations; exchanges; hedge funds; asset managers; etc.).

The team is also responsible for the setting up the static data required for on boarding of all new client connections via any electronic medium including FIX, GUI or ECN channels. FIX Integration teams are located in Barclays Investment Bank's major trading centers in Asia, London and New York and provide technical advice and assistance to clients who are committed to trading via FIX connectivity across a number of key product areas Equities, Futures and Fixed Income products.

The AVP Lead role for the FIX Connectivity team will carry out the responsibility to on-board external and internal clients to trade via FIX and other native protocols with Barclays via the equities ecommerce trading platforms, (e.g. banks, large international corporations; exchanges; hedge funds; asset managers; etc.). This role encompasses project management, technical change, continuous service improvement, and infrastructure knowledge.

The successful candidate will, build and maintain relationship with clients and support existing flow as they expand their FIX connections with Barclays.

What will you be doing?

  • Managing all aspects of Barclays connectivity market including key vendors, exchanges and ECN

  • Be accountable for the design, configuration and delivery of client connections, maintain the information centrally and sharing this knowledge with application support teams

  • Responsible for the successful and timely completion of connectivity projects

  • Provide reporting on the pipeline of small, medium and large projects

  • Understand external client FIX requirements and business objectives, define, configure and deliver solutions that meet these requirements

  • Manage the On-Boarding of new clients, liaising with support, sales other internal teams to provide first class service

  • Setting client expectations, build strong relationships and deliver excellence

  • Standardization of FIX processes and procedures across each asset class

  • Maintaining internal and external FIX documentation

  • Liaising with senior leaders in Front Office and Sales to agree and priorities which external client should be priorities

  • Excellent communication skills, attend regular meeting, negotiation priorities and highlight any delays caused by external clients with Trading and Sales

  • Understand external client FIX requirements and business objectives, define, configure and deliver solutions that meet these requirements

  • Ability to explain complex technical terms to external clients concisely without using technical jargon.

  • As a manager the team the role will involve building and maintaining a culture of operational and technical excellence throughout the team.

  • Build strong internal relationships to facilitate a strong team environment

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelors' Degree in an IT or Mathematics-related discipline
  • 5 years of experience in a FIX Connectivity leadership role within an Investment Bank
  • 5 years of experience of supporting complex enterprise trading/risk systems
  • 5 years of experience delivering continuous service improvements
  • 8 years of experience in a highly technical role (either Technical Support (L2/3), Dev, SA)

Skills that will help you in the role

  • Excellent knowledge of a number of asset class market fundamentals (including Equities, Futures and Rates) and a genuine interest in financial services / markets, particular changes in the regulatory environment and how they impact the way Investment Banks do business

  • An excellent understanding of FIX Protocol, Unix and Networks

  • Experience of managing teams in multiple regions, evidence resource planning to support ongoing client projects, high lighting risk and issues to stakeholders and escalating within their own team

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, communicate with internal and external clients

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Effective communicator who can demonstrate strong influencing skills

  • Proven ability of high performance under pressure with tight deadlines and challenging constraints

  • Driven individual with a strong work ethic
