This position qualifies for a hire-on bonus of $1000, with half paid with the first check after hire and half paid with the first check following a 6-month probationary period.

Clatsop Behavioral Healthcare is seeking a full-time QMHA Intensive In-Home Behavioral Health Counselor (IIBHT). This position provides in-home services and community-based care for an assigned caseload of youth and families, working closely with the IIBHT Therapist (QMHP). Youth eligible for IIBHT services experience multiple behavioral health diagnoses, struggles across domains of functioning, significant safety concerns, may be at risk of out-of-home placement, or transitioning home from an out of home placement.

The IIBHT counselor provides brief, solution-focused interventions and skills training to youth in the program as guided by the treatment plan and individual needs of each youth. Typical length of time in the IIBHT program for clients varies from 3-6 months and may be longer if indicated. The Counselor serves as one of the crisis responders for clients in the IIBHT system and is supported by the IIBHT Therapist, Parent Support Line, Mobile Crisis team, and the Child and Family team. Individuals applying for this role with receive comprehensive training and it is not assumed that they would have had experience providing these services. The IIBHT team is comprised of an LMP, IIBHT Therapist, peer support, and the counselor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet with a youth and family as determined by applicable Oregon Administrative Rules (OARs) and the IIBHT team.

  • Participate in assessing risk and completing safety plans for individuals assigned to the IIBHT program with the team.

  • With the other members of the IIBHT team, assist in scheduling and collectively providing at least 4-6 hours of services per week per assigned youth/family. This is between 2-5 sessions among the entire IIBHT team.

  • Maintain a strengths-based approach in working with families, community partners, team members and staff.

  • Serve as a crisis responder for IIBHT clients during working hours, responding immediately for on-site crisis stabilization as necessary and virtually by telecommunication when indicated.

  • Complete all documentation to agency standards and within parameters set by the OARs.

  • All CBH Staff are Mandatory Abuse Reporters per the State of Oregon, as such all staff must be aware of and follow Mandatory Abuse Reporting Policies.

  • If the IIBHT census is low this counselor may be assigned other youth and families to provide services.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Registered QMHA through MHACBO or ability to register within 30 days of hire.

  • Bachelor's degree in a behavioral sciences field; ora combination of at least three years relevant work, education, training or experience.

  • Previous experience working with children and families.

  • Prior experience working with the therapeutic process and modalities.

  • Working knowledge of developmental disabilities and mental health issues.

  • Skilled at working as a member of an interdisciplinary team and completing required documentation.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail, highly organized and ability to multitask.

  • Required to have and maintain an Oregon or Washington Driver's license and meet the agency's insurance carrier's insurance standards.

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.

  • Ability to learn and adopt the policies and procedures of the agency.

  • Flexibility to travel throughout community and work at off-site locations including homes, schools, non-profit partner agencies, etc.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and importance of maintaining confidentiality.

  • Bilingual
