Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Comply with all BOS, ISO/TS-16949 and Customer Specific requirements. Reference the ADIENT BOS Responsibilities Matrix for all requirements related to this job title. * Understands Plant/Customer KPI's and works with team to meet and exceed. * Participates as Layered Process Auditor if instructed by Manager. * Responsible to ensure that continuous improvement is made in all Production Quality deliverables (e.g.: RTY, Craftsmanship, RPPM, CPPM, SPPM and Warranty / JD Power). * Provide support on PPAP package preparation for product submissions and approval by appropriate Customer personnel. Obtain approval of submission packages from the Product Service Manager or Quality Manager prior to submission to the Customer. * Develop and update Control Plan as required. * Support the Manufacturing Engineer in updating the PFMEA as required. * Develop appropriate inspection plans and containment plans. * Utilize all Customer-specific systems (e.g.: Daimler-Chrysler PRISM, GM PRR, Ford WERS). * Responsible to conduct capability studies, and ensure that they are properly performed and documented for special characteristics, and that Customer and internal requirements are met (or a written Customer deviation is obtained). * Support the continuous improvement of the Operation Description Sheets (ODS). * Identify and utilize the appropriate statistical tools. Mentor team members on proper statistical application and techniques. * Interface with assigned external customers as the single point contact for issue resolution. * Responsible for completion of any customer specific advanced quality planning requirements. * Responsible for writing and submitting 8-Ds to the customer in a timely manner. * Visit the customer on an as needed basis. * Communicator between the customer and the plant. * Initiates the Quality Alert when concerns arise and follow the alert until it is closed. * Confirm all customer return material analysis root causes and corrective actions. * Monthly Performance Review of Customer (PPMs, 8-Ds, Corrective Actions, Performance, etc.)* Completes customer Trip Report when necessary. * Follows up on all 8-D revisions until closure of concern. * Total Customer Satisfaction - #1 Priority. (Must have full support from management and production). * Performs other duties as deemed necessary by the Quality Manager. #CB*
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent of a minimum of 3-5 years of Quality experience in the Automotive Industry preferred. Good understanding of Manufacturing processes. * Quality / Problem Solving Tools: Understanding of CORE tools (certified preferred), Experience on 8-D Problem Solving Methodology/tools is preferred-(KT/5 whys/fishbone etc), Internal or External Auditing training preferred. * Other Skills / Abilities: Proficiency in Excel -including charting, MS Word, PowerPoint. Must be computer literate and familiar with appropriate software programs and databases. Demonstrate knowledge and key contacts in other functional areas. (HSE & E, ME, Materials, Launch, CI, Management, HR, Finance, Lab). Ability to create visual aids for communication purposes. Ability to create comprehensive reports to customer and management of quality performance metrics.Intangibles * Willingness to take on tasks outside of customary responsibilities and displays a positive attitude. * Shows Initiative, excellent communication skills. * Experience dealing with customers/Internal & External (Program Managers, QE's, other departments...)* Ability to work well in a team atmosphere. Must be able to work well with others either as the leader of the group or in a subordinate capacity when working with members of management. * Good Decision Maker, when provided the necessary tools, is able to make sound manufacturing decisions.

The Quality Lead is responsible forall aspects of tactical management of quality relative to their production lineincluding staff development, consumer warranty and survey performance,production quality control, supply chain management, Kaizen continuousimprovement and product safety and, ensures that these control points are welldocumented. Additionally, the Quality Lead ensures design andproduction systems are appropriate at launch relative to customer targets andare continuously improving over the cycle. Specific Duties: Customer Interface Respond to all customer requests/ stateddeliverables in a timely and thorough fashion. Ensuring aconsistently high and improving supplier performance score and reducing oreliminating customer rejects. Establish cause and effect of customer returnsand provide or direct defective product analysis, keeping customer abreast ofresults. Interface with customers as directed,attending quality reviews and concern resolution meetings as required. Staff Development Maintain appropriate staffing to support allquality functions adjusting as required for developmental training, vacationand holidays as required. Train product line quality staff, ensuringthat they have appropriate quality, engineering and system skills to identify,analyze and resolve quality concerns efficiently. Supervise product line quality staff to ensuretimeliness of members, efficient use of resources and cost control. Quality Operating System Development Develop and maintain the Quality OperatingSystem (policy, procedures, work instructions and forms/ work specifications)which will assure product & process compliance and, continuous improvementin quality and delivery. Develop and coordinate ongoing quality systemchecks/ audits to ensure adherence to TS, QS and JCI corporate requirementsidentifying weaknesses which prevent world-class production quality anddelivery and resolving them in a timely and complete manner. Quality Control & Supporting Report-Out Analyze scrap and defect area data for trends,and refinement needs, providing plant team member feedback on analysis results. Support daily gate board, KPI and month-endoperational meetings as directed by Quality Manager including supportingquality measurable for designated areas as dictated by corporate and localpolicy. Actively contribute and participate in plant staff meetingsand programs including the creation and promotion of action plans to closeissues. Problem Solving & Concern Handling Read and interpret blue prints, conductefficient and thoughtful problem solving and verify product compliance/ qualityimprovement by utilizing various objective measurement, quality and analysistools. Provide proper judgment in communication andelevation of critical concerns both within BWI/JCO and with Customers whenrequired. The Quality Lead also has final authority overdispositions to acceptance of rejected products and has the authority to stopthe production process if a safety or major quality concern is identified. Show leadership in problem solving andresolution of quality issues; analyzing and providing timely resolution ofdesign, material and/or internal process problems which may cause aninterruption of world-class product delivery to ourcustomers. Initiate concrete actions to prevent the occurrence ofnon-conformities relating to design, product, process, and quality systems. Supply Chain Management Work with potential new vendors to assurecompliance to customer specifications and requirements. Monitorexisting vendor supply bases to insure that JCI/CustomerGuidelines/Specifications are met. Interface with suppliers, asrequired, if performance is not adequate providing value-added input to improvetheir quality systems. Support Design & Efficiency Improvement Support program SDT meetings along with theQuality Engineers to assist program management with upcoming engineering changeissues and attend program meetings (SDT, ECO-ECR) as a key plantrepresentative. Support engineering efforts to develop,maintain, and improve products to meet Customer expectations activelyparticipating in VA/VE sessions. Performs other duties deemed necessary by thePlant Quality Manager. #CB Education Required: A four-year degree inengineering or quality is required. ASQ quality auditorcertification considered an asset Experience Required: (3)to five (5) years of experience in industrial administration in amanufacturing environment. Familiarwith ISO 14001, TS 16949 and QS9000 Standards. Controllerand/or lab equipment experience preferred. Quality Audit experiencepreferred. Customer quality systemexperience preferred.
