Job Summary:

WesTech has an immediate opening for a Quality Control Inspector. With (5) years' experience as a certificated AWS CWI and or AMPP Certified Coatings Inspector level 2. With a working knowledge of AWS D1.1, D1.2, D1.6, ASME Sec, IX, B31.3 and or AMPP (NACE/SSPC) coating standards.

We are looking for skilled inspectors to perform dimensional, welding and coating inspections on structural steel, tanks, pressure vessels, piping, and other mechanical products.

This includes a variety of materials of construction, e.g., carbon steel, austenitic stainless steels, aluminum, FRP, PVC/HDPE, industrial coatings, rubber lining and exotic metals such as Duplex and Super stainless steels.

As a "WesTech Certified Inspector" (WCI), you would be responsible for witnessing and verifying that the product conforms to the codes of construction, detail drawings, client specifications, and the WesTech Workmanship Standards.

Inspections will be at WesTech's facilities, as well as local to WesTech offices, and at the supplier's facilities, up to 40% travel out of state is required.

Some of your responsibilities will be to:

  • Understand the fundamentals of a variety of inspection processes and tools used in performing such, e.g., VT, MT, AET, UT, PT, ET, RT, LT, DFT, SPG, and DPM.

  • Generate inspection reports in an expeditious and thorough manner, complying with all applicable deadlines and reporting using WesTech required Inspection forms.

  • Proficient in a variety of computer software applications such as: Microsoft Word, Excel and other software utilized in reporting and maintaining quality control records.

  • Competent in reading and interpreting structural and mechanical drawings and weld symbols.

  • Competent in performing dimensional inspections using standard inspection and testing tools, e.g. tape measure, calipers, micrometers, fillet weld gauge, as well as coating DFT gauge, Hygrometers, and Surface Profile gauges, etc.

  • Competent in reading and analyzing Welding Procedure Specifications, Procedure Qualification Records, Welder Certifications and Weld Maps.

  • Competent in coating application and inspection, with the ability to reading and analyzing Coating Application Procedure, Coating Data Sheets and Coating manufacturers Product Data Sheets.

  • Able to perform in-process weld monitoring and testing.

  • Willing and able to be flexible in work schedule demands; including out of town travel, working additional hours in a day or week including the occasional weekend as required.

  • Perform supplier audits and maintain consistent expectations throughout the supply chain.
