Quality Control Technician - Concrete testing for our Ready Mix divison
2815 Dodd Road, Suite 101, Eagan, Minnesota 55121

PURPOSE

Performs quality control tests for the specific product line in accordance with established local or national standards. Provides verbal and/or written test results to management and production staff in a timely manner. Assists manager with customer service issues as directed. Assists in mix design development. Certifies results of laboratory findings.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Examines laboratory and/or core samples to determine their physical and chemical properties.

  • Uses a variety of instruments and calculations to determine conformity. Performs various tests to make certain that samples meet required standards.

  • Records, analyzes, certifies and prepares summaries of findings.

  • Maintains records of test results using various databases.

  • May design mixes to be used at various plants based on materials used at each site.

  • Assists with customer service issues as required.

  • Troubleshoots to determine reason for problem or complaint.

  • Collects samples from various plants as required.

  • Provides leadership and/or guidance to less experienced Tech QC and/or Inspectors on more complex assignments.

  • Coordinates work to ensure that repairs are completed in a timely manner and according in order of priority.

  • May train new employees.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Plant Managers, Operations Manager, Plant Supervisors, and Sales

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Required Education: High School diploma/GED, Some college preferred

Required Work Experience: 3-5 years

  • High school diploma or GED, Some College Preferred.

  • Two years of post-secondary technical education or equivalent in experience preferred.

  • At least two years of experience as materials Q.C. Technician preferred.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to compute rates, rations and percentages.

  • State regulated or industry certifications, such as MNDOT Tech Certificate, as required

  • Availability and willingness to work flexible hours including some nights and weekends to meet customer needs.

  • This position requires as an essential function:

Reliability Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs over uneven ground for a distance of 300 ft Dependable attendance The ability to get along with co-workers at all levels of the organization. The ability to pass the post offer physical examination and pre-employment drug screening

Additional Requirements:

  • Educates customers in proper application of all LafargeHolcim products.

  • Job coordinator for on-site quality control work as needed.

  • Assist salesmen, and managers as required.

  • Customer service with regards to testing and product information.

  • Completion of testing in a timely manner.

  • Responsible for own ongoing maintenance, calibration and calibration documentation of testing equipment.

  • Build effective relationships with all business stakeholders.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to repairing, maintaining, installing and troubleshooting industrial equipment, systems and components including but limited to washers, dryers, steam tunnels, conveyor systems and boilers; performing preventive/predictive maintenance; performing various welding activities; preforming boiler chemical testing and making necessary chemistry adjustments; resolving safety concerns; performing indoor and outdoor housekeeping; maintaining inventory supplies; preparing maintenance records; identifying and evaluating, monitoring work performed by inside and outside service companies; responding to emergency alarms; and mentoring Maintenance Technician I partners.
