QC Microbiologist

POSITION SUMMARY

As the Quality Control Microbiologist, youll be responsible for conducting routine micro testing for raw material, blends and encapsulated products. Additional duties will be to identify non-conformances and out-of-specifications, and investigate to determine the possible root causes.

Located in Henderson, Nevada, near the exciting and diverse community of Las Vegas, ProCaps Laboratories is a large and rapidly growing manufacturer with approximately 350 employees that markets several hundred dietary supplement SKUs, along with an expanding line of functional foods (bars, packets, bottles, etc.)

WHAT YOU BRING (MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS)

• BS degree in Microbiology or equivalent is required

• A minimum of 3 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Experience with automated systems such as Biolumix, as well as traditional plating techniques is preferred

• Experience in Quality Control, Analytical Methods Development, and Bio-analytical Chemistry is preferred.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, to include the ability to communicate effectively with employees and management

• Excellent organizational skills, self-motivation, and ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic setting

• Must be willing to work overtime or on weekends, as the workload demands

WHAT YOULL DO (OTHER ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)

• Analyze materials used in dietary supplements, which would include raw material, blends and encapsulated products

• Assure accurate record keeping, reporting of data, and storage of information related to formulation efforts, in addition, provide all required documentation including reports, batch records, SOPs, etc.

• Follow all standard operating procedures and safety regulations in accordance with GLPs, cGMPs, and other applicable Federal regulations

• Maintain all equipment used in the microbiological testing

• Maintain required cultures and prepare media

• Responsible for ordering and keeping inventory of micro supplies

• Maintain a safe and clean laboratory; clean work area and glassware used in analyses; dispose of hazardous wastes according to established procedures

• Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Work location is in a laboratory setting. Other assignments may be in warehouse or on production floor.

• Duties are performed primarily in a smoke-free environment

• Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, balance, and reach

• Lift and/or move up to 25 lbs
