Position Summary

The QA Manager will work as part of the testing team implementing the overall test strategy and quality process and supports and development of the QA strategy, methodology, discipline and framework to ensure and continuously improve quality of assigned products.

Experience: overall 10+ years of experience in relevant technology and industry. Minimum of 2 years of quality management applications implementation and support experience, preferable healthcare, including substantial Executive-level contact. Minimum of 2 years of implementations in the large/small size projects. Minimum of 2 years implementation experience including HIPAA, EDI transaction sets such as 278 requests/response, 834, 837, CMS 5010, UB92 and UB04.

Computer Skills:
Advanced Visio, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Outlook) and other business productivity tools.

Other Requirements:

  • Proven experience of manually testing web, desktop applications and root cause analysis

  • Iterative software development awareness (Agile methodologies)

  • Gherkin / Behaviour-driven development (BDD) awareness

  • Ability to record and report test results accurately, with clear analysis and reporting of defects

  • Provide input into the test and project release processes, and continuous improvement

  • Capability to develop a strong working relationship with both internal and external stakeholders

  • Effective communication of ideas and information, both verbally and in writing

  • Ability to Analyze information to identify problems and issues and make effective decisions

  • Ability to plan and organize workload efficiently, working to strict deadlines


Bachelor's degree in Business, MIS, or related field of study; or equivalent work experience, plus 5 years of progressive experience. OR Master's degree plus 3 years of progressive experience.

General Summary The individual in this position will be responsible for coaching, mentoring and oversite of all software Quality Assurance teams and activities. In this capacity they will influence multiple scrum teams in terms of test strategy, as well as driving risk analysis efforts across the organization. This person is responsible for cross-team collaboration efforts regarding any identified risks/defects, as well as establishing efficient communication tactics for making these issues known to the appropriate stakeholders, including Product Management. The Sr. Manager, Quality Assurance is responsible for the creation and maintenance of test cases, contextual models for how to execute both functional and regression testing, and testing automation. The primary responsibility will be the successful implementation of test strategies that expose high-value risk and help teams develop higher-quality software. Responsibilities * Evaluates and steers individuals and teams on quality concepts, testing practices, and risk analysis. * Utilizes a context-driven testing paradigm to think critically about the functional product as well as the use of established exploratory testing techniques and tools to solve complex testing challenges. * Provides oversite to ensure both functional and non-functional requirements are validated including scalability and security. * Provides expertise in both manual testing and in the use of automation frameworks. * Attends scrum ceremonies as needed, keeping leads and other key players informed across entire development platform on potential risk overlap between teams. * Conducts 1-on-1s to focus on testers' individualized self-improvement plan * Drives positive testing culture through the use of CoP (Community of Practice) meetings, pair-testing processes, advocating for unit testing and sharing of various testing resources (e.g. books, blogs, tools, webinars). * Creates and maintains onboarding process for new testers. * Heavy involvement in the larger testing community both inside and outside of the company. * Uses a trust-and-audit system to evaluate and asses testing knowledge and performance on both a team and individual contributor level. * Ability to translate statuses, processes, ideas, risks, problems and other necessary information bi-directionally, both to upper management as well as to necessary stakeholders within engineering. * Deep interest in becoming a subject-matter expert in the product to establish more informed testing approaches. * Leads risk analysis by working closely with product owners to gain appropriate prioritization and assist in the proper triage processes * Firm understanding of the overlapping nature of the testing and coding phases, which occur simultaneously within the same space to support shared team ownership or development. * Experience advocating for Testability, as it relates to making the software easier to manipulate for the purpose of exposing potential product risks. * Strength in recognizing how automation/tooling can assist with the black box testing process. * Excellent problem-solving skills, a love for technical challenges, and a willingness to self-drive learning using publicly/privately available resources. Qualifications Education/ Experience: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science –or– related field or equivalent combination of industry related professional experience and education. * Explicit and tacit knowledge of software testing processes within a Scrum/Agile environment. * Strong ability in mentoring, coaching, advising, steering and guiding testers toward becoming better practitioners of the craft. * Familiarity with and openness to leveraging tools, models, automation and team member resources if necessary. * Ability to read code and collaborate with programmers to gain product insight. * Working experience in development lifecycle methodologies (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, KanBan). * Experience testing ecommerce and/or SASS based platform products is a plus Skills: * Utilize a context-driven approach to testing to drive collaborative testing practices. * Experience with a variety of testing tools, including but not limited to Selenium, FireBug, Postman, Browser Stack, etc. * Solid understanding of functional, performance, stress, and security testing * Experience testing user interfaces, API's, and transactional systems is required * Familiarity with cross-browser, cross-device testing * Ability to write some SQL queries as well as simple HTML and CSS. * Familiarity with agile methodologies, such as Lean, Agile and/or Scrum. * Experience with Git, Jira, Confluence, and Zephyr are all pluses * Working knowledge of multiple OS platforms (Windows and Linux) is required * Provides input into story sizing, backlog grooming, and release planning * Team player who can work well in a diverse, geographically distributed team * Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with both technical and interpersonal ambiguity. * Exhibits sound judgment when setting priorities as well as analyzing complex issues. * Excellent written and verbal communication, and presentation skills; ability to communicate complex issues in a clear, concise manner at various level.
