Orchard Therapeutics is an international biotechnology company dedicated to bringing transformative gene therapies to patients with serious and life-threatening orphan diseases. Created three years ago, it is in an exciting phase where a Quality Assurance professional can have a real impact on the work and foundations that are being created.

This role will report to the Director Corporate Quality, located in Boston, MA (US) and will be responsible for the management of the Orchard Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with applicable US and EU Good x Practice (GxP) standards and requirements. This role will also be responsible for vendor oversight activities including risk assessments ensuring vendors utilized by the company are appropriately qualified.

Responsibilities

  • Management and oversight of the Orchard Quality Management Systems.
  • Manage and oversees day-to-day maintenance of Orchard Quality System elements, including but not necessarily limited to Deviation, CAPA, OOS, Complaint, and Change Control
  • External vendor due diligence activities including qualification audits
  • Participate in, support and represent the Quality Management System in internal management reviews as well as in regulatory and third-party inspections at Orchard
  • Lead Vendor Management Quality function
  • Support Risk Assessments for Orchard vendors to ensure appropriate qualification activities are conducted.
  • Write, revise and periodically review SOPs to further develop the Quality System and control over the quality of vendor services and products.
  • Assist in the development and tracking of Quality metrics (KPI). Prepare metrics for the Management Review and Annual Product Review.
  • As appropriate, attend project meetings and lead the resolution of quality-related issues.
  • Clearly communicate issues to vendors and Orchard Therapeutics management in a timely basis.
  • Supports the preparation, coordination, and management of regulatory agency Preapproval or regular inspections.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and work experience.
  • Professional with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance role in pharma, biopharma/biotech, or healthcare environment.
  • Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Energetic, self-motivated, organized individual who is accustomed to working in a deadline-focused entrepreneurial environment.
  • Expertise in compliance with respect to pharmaceutical/biologics Quality Systems and Quality Risk management
  • Skilled in problem solving, root cause analysis, decision-making, and corrective action management
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
  • Solid organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The role is based out of our Boston office, but will also involve collaborating with our Singapore office. Biofourmis develops software as a medical device (SaMD) products that we believe will change healthcare. This role is key in ensuring that our products are built with the highest quality, are validated in the appropriate clinical setting, and that our Quality System ensures a continued excellence and commitment to our customers and their patients.</p><p><strong>Primary Responsibilities</strong> </p><ul> <li> Developing and maintaining all aspects of our Quality System to be compliant with 21 CFR 820, while still allowing for rapid product development iterations and facilitating modern software development best practices. </li> <li> Conducting internal audits, hosting external audits (ex. from FDA) and resolving findings in a timely manner, all in conjunction with a cross-functional team, and advising internal business stakeholders on risk and compliance requirements. </li> <li> Ensuring the product development, verification and validation, and risk management activities of development teams, key partner organizations, and other service vendors meet industry standards and internal SOPs, to deliver world class software products to our customers and their patients. </li> <li> Ensuring clinical trial documentation is maintained within the organization in accordance with regulatory standards. </li> <li> Ensure product development documentation is maintained within the organization in accordance with regulatory standards.</li> </ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><ul> <li>Minimum 5 years' experience in a medical device compliance related role. </li> <li> Strong knowledge of QMS standards, especially 21 CFR 820, ISO 13485. </li> <li> Strong knowledge of industry privacy standard, such as HIPAA, GDPR, etc., and a solid understanding of FDA cybersecurity guidance documents. </li> <li> Strong knowledge of medical device engineering standards related to software development, risk management, usability engineering, verification and validation, etc.</li> </ul><p><strong>Preferred Skills</strong></p><ul> </ul><ul> <li> ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) is preferred. </li> <li> Knowledge of ISO 14971 and IEC 62304 is preferred. </li> <li> Experience with Software as a Service (SaaS) and cloud computing is preferred. </li> <li> Experience with wearable technology is preferred. </li> <li> Experience with clinical trials of non-significant risk medical devices is preferred. </li> </ul> Biofourmis Boston MA
