Quality Assurance Inspector

Inspects and checks parts to ensure compliance with documents, standards and customer requirements under the direction of certified Inspectors or Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Visually inspect or check parts using a variety of precision measuring instruments.

  • Check dimensions and finishes against sketches, blueprints, manufacturing planning and specifications.

  • Follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Perform all work in accordance with established standards and safety procedures.

  • Work under direct oversight.

Required Experience

Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant work experience of less than one year.

  • Requires high school level mathematics skills and basic problem solving ability.

  • Requires familiarity with machine tools and precision instruments.

  • Basic understanding of manufacturing planning and sketches.

  • Knows when to stop and ask for clarification.

Working Conditions

Use of protective equipment such as safety glasses as required to prevent injuries.

Physical Requirements

Performs physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and frequent movement of the whole body, such as climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, balancing and handling of material.

VIEW JOBS 4/6/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-05T00:00 Description: As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will inspect development and flight vehicle components for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of providing accurate data on tight tolerance high value components to determine configuration per engineering designs. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. Responsibilities: * Program, setup and operate CMM devices. * Using design data to inspect machined and received components. * Perform first article, in-process, final and receiving inspections. * Provide feedback to machinists and engineers with dimensional data. * Document, track and complete discrepancy reports. * Provide inspection time estimates. * Maintain and track all inspection equipment calibrations. * Process improvement. * Maintain configuration control on files and job records. * Safely work within an industrial environment. Qualifications: * A minimum of 10 years of experience in dimensional inspection of aerospace components. * CMM programming and operation. * Superior blue print reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard. * Excellent communication skills. * Fluent in the use of precision hand tools, gages, optical comparator, and surface plate work. * Experience inspecting tight tolerance, high value components. * Familiar with the use of personal computers. * Self-motivation and ability to prioritize projects to meet completion dates. * Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Desired: * CAD system knowledge, preferably Pro E. * PC DMIS NC on machine inspection. * Faro and Verisurf knowledge. * Basic machining knowledge. * Familiar with Mastercam preferably X6 or higher. * Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight critical hardware. * Outside processing knowledge (heat treat, plating, coating, EDM, grinding, etc.) Blue Origin offers a phenomenal work environment and awesome culture with competitive compensation, benefits, 401K, and relocation.
