As part of our FS/QA team, you would conduct routine sanitation checks, ensuring that HAACP and USDA regulations are strictly enforced. Providing technical expertise to track product from start to finish, and develop corrective actions when needed. You will be responsible for ensuring that we are able to safely deliver the best Smithfield, Eckrich, Nathan's Famous, or any of our product brands to customers and consumers.
The QA Grader is responsible for monitoring products at various stages of the production process and acting to make immediate on-line decisions regarding the product quality characteristics by sorting and grading into various classifications.
Direct product into the proper Smithfield codes based on specifications.
Monitor packaging or re-conditioning processes for final disposition.
Review the overall quality of products and environment in their assigned areas through the application of regulatory, company and customer guidelines.
Data collection to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products may be required.
Observe department activities to ensure corporate and facility GMP procedures are followed.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), required
Knowledge and understanding of quality assurance principles, food science and meat processing
Ability to read and interpret product specifications.
Ability to make consistent and immediate on-line decisions and act accordingly to direct product flow.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and outlook.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong decision making and problem solving skills.
Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

Office and plant setting. The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.
