As the QA Environment and Release Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and stability of our projects by overseeing the QA practices and providing direction to the QA team. Additionally, manage the coordinated updates of multiple environments on the mainframe and Microsoft Azure with various other business partners. As the owner of the release management processes, you will schedule and coordinate across value streams and cross-function teams. You will collaborate with centralized QA teams and Managed Service Provider (MSP) resources to establish and maintain a robust quality assurance framework.

The ideal candidate will possess deep hands-on and leadership QA experience. Secondly, experience managing complex environments as a technical project manager who can lead the release process while simultaneously understanding the engineering process.

This position requires a weekly onsite presence in our Beautiful Deerfield Beach Headquarters 3 days a week.

Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance Leadership:

  • Lead and inspire the QA teams in delivering high-quality software solutions.

  • Implement QA processes, methodologies, and best practices across the project.

  • Make sure in conjunction with the QA and Tech Teams that the necessary test data is available in the respective environments.

  • Collaborate with centralized QA teams and MSP resources to align strategies and ensure consistency.

  • Collaborate with business teams across multiple locations such as Deerfield Beach FL, Mobile AL, and St-Louis MO.

  • Ability to influence without authority on several aspects of what is valuable to test, how to test, when to test and more importantly, what makes sense to automate in the process.

Environment Management:

  • Oversee the management of various environments for development and QA teams.

  • Coordinate the setup, configuration, and maintenance of environments on the mainframe, in Azure and our 3rd party SaaS environments.

  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure environments meet project requirements and are properly maintained.

  • Coordinate environments for the large project and other support and project activities

Release Management:

  • Adapt and implement release management processes and procedures to ensure timely and smooth software releases coordinated across multiple cross-functional teams.

  • Coordinate release activities with development, QA, and operations teams to minimize downtime and risks.

  • Manage release schedules, version control, and deployment plans to ensure successful releases.

  • Plan multiple non-prod releases over multiple years in multiple simultaneous environments to accommodate QA, SIT, UAT, Performance Testing, etc. with a big bang go live at the end of the multi year project over multiple days.

  • Extreme ownership concepts will be required in this role for release plans and deployment play books working with several project managers, product owners and program leadership teams.

QA, Mainframe and Azure Knowledge:

  • Possess knowledge of mainframe and Azure environments, with a focus on data warehouses and operational systems.

  • Ensure seamless integration and compatibility between mainframe and Azure environments.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve environment-related issues promptly.

  • Strong Software QA knowledge is critical for success in this role.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Foster strong collaboration between QA teams, development teams, business teams, and other stakeholders.

  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to address QA concerns and environment needs.

  • Provide regular updates and reports on QA status and environment health to project leadership.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains within the QA practice.

  • Identify opportunities for improvements and efficiency gains in complex environment management across multiple platforms and vendors.

  • Participate in implementing continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to streamline the testing process.

  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies to enhance QA and environment management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in QA leadership roles and managing large-scale projects.

  • Deep understanding of mainframe and Azure environments, particularly in data warehousing and operational systems.

  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with centralized QA teams and MSP resources.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong leadership skills and leadership experience

  • Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment methodologies in Azure.

  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to address complex environment issues.

  • Working knowledge of enterprise testing tools such as QTest, Tosca, JMeter, and others a plus

  • Proficient in Agile methodologies

  • Able to leverage automation tools such as MS Power Automate to improve the experience.

  • Proficient with reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI.

  • Out-of-the-box thinking and problem-solving skills are a must for this role
