QA Engineer

DESCRIPTION

Open Lending is seeking an energetic and highly motivated QA Engineer. You will bring forth your analytical and troubleshooting expertise to assist in supporting the Lenders Protection IT team through software testing and advocate or our customers.

Day-to-Day duties would include:

  • Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
  • Create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases
  • Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities
  • Identify, record, document thoroughly and track bugs
  • Liaise with internal teams (e.g. developers and product managers) to identify system requirements
  • Perform a variety of tests, such as regression, integration, platform, and performance testing to confirm the stability of software systems.
  • Present demos and answer questions at the end of a sprint.
  • Work collaboratively with QA, development, and business groups to complete testing.
  • Identify automatable tests from regression suite and build automation backlog

Requirements

REQUIRED

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to effectively communicate results to the IT team
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
  • Expertise in analyzing, troubleshooting and resolving complex issues
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Work from the Open Lending Corporate Office in downtown Austin, TX
  • Previous software testing or customer support experience
  • Experience using Jira or other bug tracking or support ticket systems
  • MySQL (or other database) experience
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processes
  • Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases
  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject

RECOMMENDED

  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
  • Rest API, SOAP experience
  • Experience with performance and/or security testing is a plus

As a Quality Assurance Engineer for the Identity and Biometric Solutions team, you will be part of the team delivering tailor made solutions to state and local government agencies to issue official documents (Driver's License, ID cards) and provide background check services for anyone needing a job. Key Responsibilities: * Be part of the project team working on innovative solutions for state and local government agencies * Design the validation strategy and develop software and scripts to perform automated testing on the developed solution * Focus on reliability, robustness and performance of solution by using your development skills and quality assurance knowledge * Understand the solution architecture and software components to optimize the test coverage and minimize the risks * Setup and maintain the test automation frameworks * Work closely with the technical leader and the project team to meet the timeline and expected level of quality * Report progress against deadlines as requested by management * Interact with our customers during project implementation when needed * Participate in conforming to company standards and actively improving them * Participate in Level 3 support for our deployed solutions Required Skills and Experience: * 5+ years of experience with test automation and end to end testing (windows and web applications) * Broad knowledge of validation methodologies and techniques * General technical knowledge of software development (Client server, REST architecture) * Strong written and verbal communication * Proven team development experience and a willingness to adapt to new technologies * Able to travel up to 20% of the time domestically during the specification and integration phases and for workshops Preferred Skills and Experience: * Experience with database servers (SQL Server, Oracle), understanding of web technologies (such as HTTP, HTML/XML, WCF…) and application servers (JBoss, IIS), API testing (Soap, REST), knowledge of PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) and Windows administration (Active Directory, LDAP…) is a plus. * Knowledge of Linux a plus * Knowledge in security related activities and standards (ISO27005 risk assessment, OWASP, HP Fortify and Web Inspect) a plus * Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering Special Position Requirements: * This position requires U.S. citizenship (no dual citizenship accepted) per CFIUS requirements * This position is subject to standard pre-employment background check, fingerprinting and drug screen * This position is subject to post-hire third party background checks with the Department of Justice, the FBI and other state government agencies * This position is subject to annual employment background check screening Are you ready to be part a part of something big?
