Smashing Ideas seeks a motivated QA Engineer on a contract basis to join our team. This role is responsible for testing and analysis of mobile applications to ensure quality standards and adherence to functional requirements through manual and automated testing. Working closely with a project team, the QA Engineer is responsible for identifying defects and risks as well as assisting the development team in preventing or resolving quality issues.


  • Create and work with QA documentation, including test plans and test cases.

  • Perform functional, performance and content testing and analysis of applications.

  • Write, isolate and regress technical and content related issues.

  • Assist with user and acceptance testing.

  • Contribute to continuing improvement of QA department processes, tools and standards.


  • 2+ years experience in QA

  • Experience in testing iOS or Android mobile products.

  • Ability to rapidly identify and document technical issues.

  • Able to work independently or in small teams effectively.

  • Ability to handle shifting schedules and multiple projects with flexible hours.

  • Demonstrable understanding of test plan and test case creation

  • Experience with development tools including Mobile (XCode, Android SDK), test management systems, issue tracking systems (JIRA, Bugzilla), Git, SVN, Build management (Jenkins, Bitrise) and profiling tools.

  • Experience with API testing tools (Charles, Postman or similar)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desired Skills

  • Integration and regression testing for mobile applications.

  • Experience with test automation tools.

  • Working knowledge of automated unit testing methodology and tools.

  • Experience with agile development methodologies.

  • Experience in interpreting wireframes, design comps and functional requirements.

  • Experience isolating issues through logs, analysis tools and code reviews.

  • Experience working on a mass-market product from start-to-finish

  • Thorough understanding of the deployment processes for mobile applications

Now we need a Quality Assurance Engineer to join us in Seattle on out SmartCast services team. Responsibilities: * Work with dev teams and program managers to understand product features and develop test plans and matrices based on business and functional requirements * Develops, writes and reviews test plans to ensure that software functions as expected. * Find, isolate, document, and track bugs through resolution * Troubleshoot issues experienced during testing * Ensure strong attention to detail and be able to accomplish a wide variety of tasks * Drive the test case sign-off process, test execution and reporting of test results * Estimates quality assurance testing effort levels. * Collects quality assurance metrics and communicates as necessary. * Understand and use JIRA and TestRails for test case management, creation, execution and bug reports * Organize cross team "bug bashes" Basic qualifications: * Experience in a technical role of 2+ years, ideally with demonstrated QA experience * Familiar with software development life cycle (SDLC) and quality assurance methodologies * Experience with end to end testing including regression testing and experience.
