What are we looking for?

Were looking for a QA Automation Engineer who understands how, when, and what to automate so that your team consistently ships superior quality software that performs even better than users expect. Youll use your mastery of Cucumber scenarios in gherkin format and your knowledge of automation best practices to ensure a reliable regression suite and extend and improve upon our existing automation framework. Youll utilize software engineering best practices like code reviews, refactoring, and iterative development to ensure that our automation reflects best practices, and youll champion a quality mindset as a member of a cross functional team to ensure that every step of our process contributes to building the best possible product.


You should have...

  • Achieved a bachelors degree in a science or technology related field, or relevant experience
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in automation using open-source tools like Cucumber, Selenium, etc.
  • Experience working as a member of a cross functional team practicing Scrum/Agile
  • Programming experience with languages like Ruby or Python
  • Mobile experience and SaaS experience is a plus
  • Authored a suite of automated tests from scratch
  • Built an automation framework from scratch using programming and automation best practices

VIEW JOBS 5/24/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-08-22T00:00 Job Description CREE's Global Operations team is seeking an Automation and Controls Engineer for the Materials development group. This position is located at our headquarters in Durham, NC. Responsibilities include designing and programming PC-based and PLC-based control systems and developing monitoring and maintenance systems using Visual Studio .NET and SQL. The engineer will be required to implement these systems in the plant and provide required support as needed. This includes multiple functions relating to the development and integration of software systems to improve tool performance and efficiency and to collect data from and monitor plant floor manufacturing processes. This will require the engineer to analyze a situation, develop a design specification that addresses the requirements, design and implement the solution, and document the design for ongoing support. The candidate will be required to coordinate the installation and startup of systems or system upgrades and the training of plant associates. Responsibilities: * Design, code and troubleshoot plant automation and data collection systems. * Design, program and install new electrical control systems and/or upgrade existing systems using the latest technology available. * Providing technical support in maintenance of existing control systems. Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field * 3 years of experience in programming Visual Studio.NET, JavaScript, SQL etc. * 3 years of experience with PCs, PLCs, I/O, sensors and process controls. * Knowledge of and use of software source control systems. * Demonstrated understanding of good software development and testing practices in a manufacturing environment. * Candidate must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) Preferred Qualifications: * 5+ years of experience in programming Visual Studio.NET, JavaScript, SQL etc. * 5+ years of experience with PCs, PLCs, I/O, sensors and process controls. * 5+ years of experience with TFS source control systems. * 3+ years of experience with SSRS and report development. * Working knowledge of AutoCAD (AutoCAD Electrical preferred). * Knowledge of the semiconductor industry. * Good communications skills. * Experience leading and participating in a cross-functional support team environment, sharing knowledge and experiences with other team members in support of team responsibilities. * Ability to interact with customers from a broad range of computer, control, and mechanical component experience and skill levels in a friendly, open-minded manner Overview At Cree, we've spent more than 30 years developing industry firsts as a leader in wide bandgap semiconductor technology.
