Overview

The QA Automation Analyst I role is to write manual and automated test scripts, perform test execution, and track defects using the defined QA tools, processes, and methodology. The Automation Analyst I will apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to automate QA processes and test scripts in order to maximize the benefit of business investments in initiatives.

Responsibilities

Operational:

  • Adhere to Patterson standards for business and departmental requirements, objectives, and specifications.

  • Collaborate with software/systems personnel in application testing, such as system, unit, regression, load, and acceptance testing methods

  • Participate in new and sustained Software Development Projects

  • Maintain test scripts based off QA documentation that can be reviewed and utilized for other Automation resources

  • Create and execute test scripts using existing documentation and minimal hands-on direction, this will lead into writing basic scripts

  • Create dynamic and ever-evolving automation scripts that are repeatable and executable by everyone on the QA Team

  • Perform issue tracking, reporting and resolution of issues found during testing

  • Participate in research, evaluation and implementation of automated testing tools.

  • Provide regular status as directed throughout the release cycle to management & other team members

  • Perform any other job duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree with emphasis on Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or related field or equivalent education or software experience

  • 2+ Years of experience in quality assurance/development

  • Knowledge of database or web technologies such as SQL, XML, HTML and sufficient understanding of web applications.

  • Experience with Azure Table Storage is a plus

  • Ability to exercise best judgment when identifying the severity of issues

  • A Quality Assurance or Automation certification is a plus

  • Knowledge of and commitment to the quality of Patterson Products

  • Willingness to accept accountability and lead with integrity

  • Excellent verbal and written communication with both technical and non-technical people

  • Professional attitude and respect for processes and procedures

  • Experience with Azure DevOps and Visual Studio

  • Comprehensive understanding of software test methodologies including white box, black box, functional, unit, feature, regression, integration, performance and scalability.

  • Experience of developing data driven manual tests.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in creating automated test scripts using Coded UI or any scripting tool

  • Test Script Creation experience beyond record/playback

  • Good understanding of coding methods and best practices

  • Experience using source code management system

  • Experience with Microsoft Test Manager and Lab Management

  • Knowledge of SDLC and Software Development methodologies

  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment

  • Self-motivation and drive, with keen attention to detail

  • Proven analytical and complex problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to quickly comprehend data/information in order to generate new ideas

We are seeking a QA Technician to join our team in Chatsworth. The Quality Technician, under the technical direction of a Quality Engineer, implements inspection plans, quality plans, supports auditing functions, and/or evaluates supplier performance. Contributes to the planning, implementation, and administration of cost effective Quality Programs, assuring that a system is in place which will meet contractual quality requirements. Inspection planning and statistical analysis work is focused on variation reduction to improve productivity, in process yield and efficiency of fabrication activities. The incumbent shall collect and analyze data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations. Must be familiar with fabrication processes, and end item functional test requirements in order to identify sources of variation in these processes. The Quality Technician must be able to effectively communicate ideas, concepts and principles. This position requires close working relationships with Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Production, Materials & Process Engineering, and other Quality Assurance disciplines. The incumbent will perform mechanical inspections and will be able to specify "best" inspection practices. Other technical support activities include performing process capability studies, analyzing inspection data, implementing statistical process control plans, performing measurement capability studies, implementing inspection plans, and executing designed experiments. The incumbent will implement and integrate inspection plans for receiving inspection, manufacturing operations, assembly & test processes, and final inspection. Frequent personal contact with customers and teams require critical interpersonal skills, writing skills, tact, aggressiveness, and persuasiveness. Activities include; implementation of statistical process control plans, writing of failure analysis reports, performing preliminary material review, providing customer interface, audit support, configuration control activities, traceability documentation, returned unit support, and contamination control activities. The Quality Technician must be self motivated and have the ability to follow through on assignments with limited supervision, while supporting several assignments and/or programs concurrently under stress without confusion. The incumbent should be familiar with military specifications most frequently encountered in quality programs. This position requires an Associate Degree and three years technical experience in manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, Assembly & Test, or Quality Related Field. ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Inspection/Quality Planning: Implement and monitor production inspection plans for receiving inspection, manufacturing, assembly & test, engineering procedures and first article inspection plans. This may include the performance of physical inspections, process capability studies, gauge capability studies, and/or implementation of statistical process control plans. 2. Contract Compliance: Maintain compliance with contractual changes related to quality. 3. Project Support: Perform routine technical tasks such as product/process improvement studies and the development of new systems and procedures. 4. Training/Auditing: Assist in the administration of training certifications for site personnel and in the training and assessment of functional groups in the areas of quality requirements and other Quality related subjects. 5.
