We are looking for a dedicated and experienced software engineer to develop compliant cloud solutions that can be consumed by Barclays application teams to host services on public cloud infrastructure. Deliverables include the development of integration code to integrate internal developed and vendor products and services, including automated testing and delivery of these components. Initially the role will be focused on the development and engineering of Amazon AWS products.

What will you be doing?

  • As part of a team you will take part in providing daily subject matter expertise while driving deliveries assigned within through an agile project methodology

  • Develop software engineering quality standards and benchmarks

  • Reading and writing documentation and specifications

  • Improving software delivery mechanisms for restricted environments

  • Input into product configurations, software choices, interoperability, CI/CD framework implementation

  • Provide daily subject matter expertise while driving deliveries assigned within through an agile project methodology

  • Build development CI/CD pipelines for zero-touch deployments

  • Development & consumption of HTTP APIs

  • Designing scalable distributed applications.

  • Configure open-source and vendor supplied platforms and products to integrate into the bank's systems

  • Implement Chef recipes to deploy and manage platforms

  • Deliver presentations and technical demonstrations to educate stakeholders.

  • To maintain an interest and knowledge of new innovations in Cloud technologies.

  • Suggesting new ways forward and coming up with new feature ideas.

  • Evaluate new technologies and identify if there is a potential benefit to Barclays. Analyse potential use against existing solutions within Barclays and alternative solutions within the marketplace. Recommend use of a particular component/toolset by assessing technical robustness, comparing with other options and ensuring there is a business benefit in implementing.

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or mathematics and/or relevant years of work experience.

  • 2 years of Python programming experience

  • 1 years of Amazon Web Services (AWS) experience or knowledge

  • 1 Years of experience with Agile methodologies

  • 1 years of Restful API experience consuming/writing

  • 1 year of experience or knowledge with RDBMS

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Experience with Infrastructure as code

  • Familiarity with Linux

  • Experience with automated testing approaches e.g. BDD, Unit, TDD

  • Experience of working in a regulated industry

  • Experience with Jenkins

  • Kubernetes

  • Docker

  • Javascript

  • Flask or Django

  • Angular, React or Vue

  • IntelliJ

  • Knowledge and understanding of CI/CD processes, concepts and benefits. Understand benefit of fully-automated deployments

  • Understanding of long term benefits coming from fully automated development and release workflows

You will provide support for the oversight of the Controls framework across Barclays International, with specific focus on the Intermediate Holding Company (IHC) and the Combined United States Operations (CUSO). As a part of this team, you will sustenance the Americas Controls lead in the establishment and monitoring of a best-in-class control framework. What will you be doing? * Contribute to the end production of materials for the Americas Controls Committee (ACC), a monthly, control environment assessment meeting for Barclays International in the Americas. * Identify all risk issues / events that are owned by and impact the Americas, including IHC / CUSO. * Analyze and provide insightful commentary for periodic (e.g. monthly, quarterly, YTD) changes in stock of existing and Past Due self-identified, compliance, audit, and Regulatory issues. * Partner with CCO MI colleagues (both on-shore and off-shore) to identify items for automation / enhancement of materials production for the monthly ACC meetings. * Partner with global CCO colleagues to report on completed Lessons Learned assessment themes. * Partner with the VP, IHC Controls Officer, to own secretarial responsibilities (e.g. minutes, follow-up actions) for the ACC meetings. * Partner with businesses / functions to mitigate potential failed issue validation by: * tracking the progress of self-identified, compliance, audit, and Regulatory issue remediation * engaging with issue owners and Internal Audit colleagues to ensure all stakeholders fully understand issue remediation requirements. * Support efforts to create a quarterly IHC & CUSO Conduct Risk dashboard, which is crafted from Conduct Risk dashboards provided by underlying businesses which transact on the IHC & CUSO. * Support efforts to create a quarterly Controls Maturity and Risk Profile assessment (CM & RPA) heatmap for the IHC. What we're looking for: * Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience * 2 years' experience working in an Analyst capacity at an Investment Bank or other financial services organization.
