Job Summary:

As a Pursuit Strategist (PS) Assistant Director, you will manage multiple aspects of business pursuits for a Region. You will lead the team to develop and implement marketing and pursuit strategies that produce specific results. You will also confirm that all steps of the proposal process adhere to firm guidelines.

In this role, you will also be responsible for coaching, helping staff convey information and ideas clearly and concisely, using a variety of media. This will engage the audience and help them retain the message. In addition, you will act as the local and national PS champion. You will receive general direction and will be expected to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consult with Business Development and Region leaders, to produce pursuit materials that achieve specific results. Establish an effective way to complete team projects

  • Provide ongoing proposal strategy and support. Gain adherence to all steps of the pursuit proposal process, and confirm high quality content and end product

  • Help Business Development executives identify pursuit opportunities, through market research, account plan review and client meetings (for those accounts that do not have an account manager)

  • Control the workflow to deliver objectives on time. Develop and maintain metrics on team performance. Give feedback to Business Development leaders on the team's contributions

  • Build relationships with industry/practice leaders. Come up with opportunities to create strategic alliances with partners, Business Development executives, senior managers, practices and other Areas, to help achieve business goals

  • Develop high quality proposals, qualification documents, presentations and other meeting documents

  • Present and share knowledge on developments and trends. This may be gained from learning events or other media

  • Work with other PS leaders and national professionals, to make the most of leading practices. Apply advanced principles and concepts to the pursuits and communications process

  • Develop and manage a quality control program for all deliverables. Act as a project manager for medium/large proposals or oversee significant portions of major or high complex proposals

To qualify, candidates must have:

  • English language skills - excellent written and verbal communication

  • Planning, time management and organizational skills

  • A strong working knowledge of a professional services organization

  • A minimum of 8-10 years related experience

  • A minimum of 5-7 years directly managing, developing and training a team of pursuit strategists and proposal writers

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Project Manager: 30% For a subset of deals, assumes lead responsibility for managing the proposal and presentation development process. Specific activities include the following: * Develops and drives internal work plan of deadlines and deliverables. * Reviews RFPs and other client material to gain complete understanding of requirements. * Creates proposal or presentation template aligned with client requirements and company branding standards. * Researches and drafts responses to RFP questions using internal resources. * Holds master drafts of proposals and presentations, incorporating edits and changes and sending out revised drafts to the pursuit team. * Works closely with pursuit team to resolve open items during the proposal and presentation development process. * Advises on production and delivery. * Manages the upload of final proposal submissions to online procurement sites as needed. Other Responsibilities: 10% * Provides coaching and guidance to junior team members. * Understands and applies company branding and style guidelines, and applies them in proposals and presentations. * Obtains feedback from pursuit team members after deliverable completion to determine areas for improvement. * Performs final editorial peer review of proposal and presentation drafts for colleagues. What you need to have: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Education: Bachelor's degree in business, journalism, marketing, English, or communications preferred. * Experience: 7-10 years of experience in marketing, sales, or related field; professional services background strongly preferred. * Knowledge and skills: Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint. Excellent research, organizational, and communication skills, particularly writing and editing. Exceptional customer service focus.
