Position Purpose: The Livestock Production Specialist
Monitoring and documentation of performance and profitable improvements for producers implementing program and product recommendations. Ensure the documentation is reviewed with the producer and the local dealer staff.
Provide technical information and training as requested for dealer employees.
Maintain a high level of proficiency and competency in nutrition, production, management, and selling skills through recommended training and verified by documented sales results.
Calf and Heifer Specialist will support event selling, feeder meetings, and execution of the promotional calendar with the dealer account.
Required (Basic) Experience & Education:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, a closely related discipline or equivalent experience.
The candidate must possess industry knowledge in young dairy animal husbandry, current management practices, and nutritional guidelines.
Action oriented, customer focus, functional/technical, interpersonal savvy, drive for results, self-development, time management, problem solving/decision making.
Candidate should be capable of walking facilities and helping with weighing of young stock for support of performance of programs.
Requires the ability to lift and carry 50 lb. bags of feed as needed.
Preferred Experience & Education:
Candidates with an Advanced Degree, or a minimum of 2 years of experience in industry demonstrating the capability to improve Young Dairy Animal performance through teamwork at the farm and utilizing other influential(s) to grow business.
Willingness to participate in organizations related to the livestock industry.
