A Purchasing Manager/Supply Chain Manager oversees and is involved in the purchasing process on a daily basis, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services necessary for EPS's daily operations.

The Purchasing Manager/Supply Chain Manager is primarily responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies that optimize costs, maintain quality standards and mitigate supply chain risks. The Purchasing Manager/Supply Chain Manager also helps identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts and establish mutually beneficial relationships to ensure a reliable supply of goods and services. Purchasing Managers/Supply Chain Managers are also responsible for analyzing demand patterns and forecasting future needs to avoid shortages or excesses.

Objectives of this role

• Developing and implementing procurement strategies and policies for cost optimization and enhancing supply chain efficiency.

• Identifying, evaluating and selecting suppliers based on quality, reliability, cost-effectiveness and adherence to ethical and sustainability standards.

• Negotiating contracts and terms with suppliers to ensure favorable pricing, payment terms and mutually beneficial agreements.

• Collaborating with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and align purchasing activities with organizational goals.

• Conducting market research and analysis to stay updated on industry trends, supplier capabilities and pricing fluctuations.

• Managing supplier relationships, including ongoing performance evaluation, issue resolution and fostering long-term partnerships.

• Monitoring inventory levels, analyzing demand patters and implementing inventory management strategies to manage stock levels and avoid shortages or excesses.

Your tasks:

• Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of the department.

• Implement procurement systems and tools to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.

• Source and negotiate with potential suppliers, assess their capabilities and evaluated their suitability based on predefined criteria.

• Manage supplier relationships, including regular communication, performance evaluations and issue resolution.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and develop procurement plans accordingly.

• Analyze inventory levels, demand forecasts and consumption patters to optimize stock levels and reduce carrying costs.

• Continuously evaluate and improve procurement practices, including identifying cost-saving opportunities and process enhancements.

• Prepare and present reports on procurement activities, performance metrics and cost savings to higher management.

• Develop and maintain procurement metrics to track performance, identify areas for improvement and report on sourcing effectiveness.

• Implement sustainable and socially responsible strategic sourcing practices, including supporting local suppliers and promoting ethical sourcing.

• Stay updated on regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations related to sourcing activities.

• Participates in Year End inventory counts to assist in identifying inventory and accuracy of counts.

• Develop and maintain SOP's for the Purchasing Manager role and subordinate roles.

• Attend career development opportunities and obtain certificates perinate to the position.

• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor's degree preferred

• Experience with "Infor Syteline" ERP system preferred, but not required

• Professional certification such as APP, CPSM, CPPM

• Average knowledge of Microsoft Office.

• Strong lumber and steel background with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a lumber related purchasing, sales or product management in the building materials industry.

• Experience with strategic sourcing for multi-site organization.
