The Purchasing Manager coordinates procurement, planning, scheduling and negotiation of materials, components, equipment, supplies and services necessary for the company. Exercises good working knowledge of goods, services and sources to ensure on-time delivery and purchases at prices consistent with quality and quantity requirements. Directs and coordinates the activities of personnel engaged in purchasing raw materials, manufacturing consumables, components, and MRO/supplies. Develops key supplier relationships to support collaborative and partnering initiatives. Responsible for the implementation of all policies, practices, and procedures pertaining to Purchasing personnel. Supervises the issuance of all purchase orders, insuring the inclusion of required specifications, prices, terms and conditions by performing the following duties personally or through assistant personnel.


  • Manages and directs the daily activities of the purchasing functions.

  • Coordinates with suppliers, operations, customers, business development, project managers, and other appropriate stakeholders as necessary. This includes monitoring, identifying potential problems, and recommending solutions for issues that may prevent on-time delivery to our customers. Aligns our procurement practices and supply chain in support of the business strategy.

  • Supports, participates and/or drives Supplier Relationship Management initiatives and activities per corporate guidance specifically including quarterly meetings, follow up documentation and other requirements.

  • Develops collaborative/partnering relationships with key suppliers to promote processes that will reduce lead times, decrease costs, and ensure product and service quality improvement.

  • Manages supply base and measures supplier performance in order to drive appropriate improvement efforts.

  • Supports, participates and/or drives Supply Chain Improvement initiatives and activities per Group guidance.

  • Establishes Purchasing department procedures and practices, and studies workflow, sequence of operations, and office arrangement to improve workflow.

  • Ensures the timely review of MRP requirements to ensure on-time deliveries of goods and services as well as ensuring the accuracy of various ERP parameters related to the purchasing function.

  • Identifies the most cost and service effective sources for materials purchased for both manufacturing and development.

  • Supervises, prepares, and issues purchase orders and change notices insuring the inclusion of required specifications, prices, terms and conditions, and other relevant purchasing information.

  • Responsible for hiring and training employees in the department and for evaluating employees regarding promotions, transfers, merit increases and disciplinary actions.


  • Advanced materials management skills including Sourcing, Supplier Quality, Contract Administration, Inventory Control, Supplier Selection and Technical Development, Transactional Management, and Critical Thinking and Problem Solving capability.Ideally with experience procuring within a cGMP manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to communicate in a professional, efficient manner at all levels of the company.

  • Strong attention to detail and assistance with identification and implementation of SCM best practices and industry standards.


  • 6+ years of Production Planning, Purchasing, and/or Procurement roles using ERP systems in a cGMP environment (experience with Axapta 3.0 preferred).

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University (Business, Supply Chain, or Technical preferred).

  • APICS/ISM (CPSM)/Supply Chain certification preferred.

  • Strong Management and Team Building Skills; two years supervisory experience is required.

Additionally, ensure projects achieve time, scope, budget, quality, safety and customer satisfaction requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Review & understand SOWs and project contract to determine time to deliver, allotment of available and required internal and/or third party resources to various phases of project (people and dollars) * Responsible for coordinating all activities associated with the timely, accurate, and on-budget completion of the project, according to established project management procedures using MS Project on SharePoint and project workbook * Responsible for leading a Project Kickoff meeting among Sales, Technical engineers, Customer resources, Technical Support mgmt., Finance (as needed), Third Party resources (as needed) * Responsible for effective communication with customer including change orders and delivery, on-site visits (as needed) * Provide regular updates to Sr. Project manager including standard project review meetings * Engage Finance/accounting and purchasing department personnel as need for capex purchases and/or equipment * Review project status weekly to keep it on schedule financially, identify problem areas, and spearhead resolution * Raise awareness immediately to management regarding potential claims or back charges or any large costs that will affect AVISPL financially on assigned projects * Ensure that any scope, schedule, cost or change of terms are handled in accordance to stated change order procedures. * Retain responsibility for resolving all project related issues * Attend weekly team review of all projects and statuses and utilization.
