Purchasing Manager

We are currently looking for someone who wants a rewarding position in an innovative, creative and state-of-the-art work environment.

In the Purchasing Manager role, you will be responsible for managing the Purchasing Team. The Purchasing Manager performs strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend; searching for better deals, managing vendors and negotiating pricing. Understanding inventory control structure and methods plus ensuring proper inventory levels of supplies for manufacturing of photo products is an important part of this role. Taking us to the next level in managing inventory is key and involves software/technology solutions.


  • Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies

  • Organize, supervise and direct the work of purchasing team

  • Oversee and update inventory management systems

  • Continue to improve upon current system of documented internal controls, policies and infrastructure to scale with the business

  • Help identify and lead efforts to migrate to an improved inventory software platform

  • Recruit and maintain suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a better price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct

  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness

  • Obtain vendor quotes for new product development and for current products. Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service

  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation

  • Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power

  • Assess, manage and mitigate risks

  • Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers

  • Determine quantity and timing of deliveries

  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand

  • Create financial reports and conduct cost analyses and benchmarking

  • Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials

  • Prepare and issue purchase orders and change notices

  • Communicate with production manager and floor managers about source materials purchased. Inventory levels and delays in receiving


  • 5+ years performing in a manager/supervisory role within a high volume purchasing department

  • Knowledge of inventory systems and automation

  • Experience leading/developing teams in direct sourcing and vendor management

  • In depth experience with one or more vendor management software solutions

  • Experience establishing networks for successful negotiation

  • Experience with ERP software implementation is a plus


  • Excellent spreadsheet skills

  • Skilled in negotiation tactics and networking

  • Strong financial analysis skills

  • Ability to track and synthesize data analysis

  • Express ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in written form

  • Skilled in using judgment and discretion


  • BS/BA Degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration

  • Advanced education desired

Responsible for supervising document control compliance for R&D processes, workflows, and personnel. Specific Job Duties: * Supervise the development of label supplement facts panels and oversee compliance and review of all new product labels. Maintain current label development guidelines in accordance with current FDA labeling regulations. * Investigate and support the implementation of reformulations on existing products. * Review and compile supporting data, make appropriate calculations, communicate department recommendations. * Initiate and track documentation for the reformulation processes. * Establish and maintain written standard operating procedures, work instructions, guidelines and flowcharts for the R&D department. Oversee GMP compliance specific to the R&D department. * Support product and component file maintenance and compliance documentation for R&D in conjunction with the Quality Data Manager. * Serve as a problem solving resource cross-departmentally, including but not limited to customer service, production control, and quality control. * Support the department with minor administrative duties, as needed. * Perform all other tasks as assigned by Threshold management. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Required: * Bachelor's Degree in nutrition, food science, biological sciences, or related field. * Minimum 5 years work experience in in the dietary supplement or closely related industry. * Good analytical skills, with exceptional attention to detail. * Excellent written and oral communication skills. * Basic mathematic comprehension and skill. * Positive attitude, team player. * Well versed in using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Skills and/or Training Desired: * Ability to think creatively and be proactive. * Positive and patient with a solution-oriented attitude. * Ability to stay focused and organized with specific requirements with continual interruptions. * Experience managing persons or processes. * Experience with Navision (Microsoft ERP system). * Experience conducting literature searches, and analyzing and summarizing research articles in the biological sciences.
