  • Maintain and operate Newstar on a day to day basis

  • Set up new vendors and vendor files

  • Research vendor payment aging issues

  • Process invoices for payment as needed

  • Enter and maintain all documents in the vendor database to include plans, sublists, community information, and documentation, etc.

  • Work with the corporate office to process weekly payment reports

  • Respond to calls/emails from production regarding contracts, plans, misc. questions, etc.

  • Respond to calls/emails from subcontractors regarding contracts, field concerns, etc.

  • Complete all established paperwork, reports, and files in accordance with the company format and timeframes.

  • Present a professional image in accordance with company appearance standards.

  • Maintain a high level of ethics and integrity in all dealings.

  • Maintain a personal time management system to facilitate organization and efficiency.

  • Attend and pass all required training programs (management and technical)

  • Demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills.

  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned.


  • Excellent relationship development skills: This role interacts extensively with customers, vendors, and the internal purchasing team

  • Must have excellent organizational skills and be detail-oriented

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel


  • Set up new vendors

  • Enter and maintain new vendor pricing

  • Manage PO Releases in Newstar and BuildPro

  • Research vendor payment aging issues

  • Enter bids and take-off quantities into plan takeoff

  • Create and maintain vendor subcontracts

Construction Support

  • Load construction documents into BuildPro

  • Work with Field Managers to proactively resolve purchase order issues

Sales Support

  • Confirm selection entered in Newstar Sales is correct prior to purchase order release

  • Enter selections in Newstar Sales as needed


  • GED required

  • Experience with residential construction concepts and practices

Successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining, organizing and communicating purchasing information in an accurate, relevant, timely, professional, and reliable manner to relevant departments within the organization as well as outside vendors. What your day-to-day will look like: * Communicate regularly with suppliers and vendors via phone and email for delivery issues, damages, and other related discrepancies. * Assist with reconciliation of procurement transactions and maintain supporting documentation, such as order confirmation, invoices, and other receiving documents. * Provide customer service to ensure all customers (internal and external) have all necessary and current information. * Assist purchasing department in general clerical tasks including generating reports, maintaining files, etc. * All other job duties as assigned. Additional Requirements: * Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). * Experience: 1-2 years of related purchasing experience preferred. * Specific Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages. Ability to work independently to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines. * Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, Etc.: None.
