About Purchasing Clerk (Mail Route Driver):
This is a part-time, 30 hours per week position. Performs general clerical duties of a routine nature. Work is performed under immediate supervision. The Clerk in the Purchasing Department will also assist with daily mailroom operations and deliver/pick up mail following a route schedule. Knows the County's Customer-Centered Culture principles, the County's Mission, Strategic Plan and Core Values and demonstrates a commitment to customer satisfaction for all customers on a regular basis.
Drives designated County vehicle to deliver/pick up mail following a daily route schedule.
Operates postage machine by using a touchscreen computer to enter correct mail class and accounting information.
Operates a scale and computer software to calculate postage for USPS, FedEx, and UPS.
Answers customer questions regarding postal regulations.
Weighs, and mails packages.
Takes all outgoing mail to the Post Office daily.
Signs for deliveries.
Fuels route vehicle and maintains vehicle cleanliness.
Scan, copy, and file correspondence, documents, and other recorded data alphabetically or numerically.
Answers the telephone and records the identification of callers and their messages; assists and transfers callers to appropriate departments; delivers oral and written messages.
Receives and sorts incoming and interoffice mail and packages, opens, and distributes to appropriate sections.
Operates a postage machine.
Keeps simple records, and copies documents as requested.
May enter data into a computer program using a keyboard.
Operates a variety of standard office equipment.
Orders and delivers supplies as necessary.
Attends department meetings and training sessions.
Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Knows the products they personally produce and the customers of each product. Listens to the "Voice of the Customer "and closes gaps between customer expectations and experience whenever possible.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
No previous experience required.
Valid State of Iowa Driver's License required. For the Clerk (Mail Route Driver) position in Purchasing.
Some knowledge of clerical procedures and office practices, business English, spelling, and arithmetic.
Ability to make basic arithmetic computations.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public.
Basic computer skills including the ability to type and use email.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to lift 20 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Special Requirements:
Must pass a County physical examination which includes a drug test after offer of employment. Regular work attendance required. Must remain awake and aware of surroundings at all times.Monday
