By joining our Division of Equipment Procurement Branch as a Purchasing Branch Manager you will have the opportunity to manage a branch engaged in procurement administration and inventory, conduct contractural evaluation of requisitioned commodities and services.

Holders of this Job Title will complete tasks such as:

  • Supervise Procurement and Receiving Staff

  • Equipment Project Management of Commodities and Repair Services

  • Oversee Fixed Asset Inventory

  • Prepare and Develop Equipment Specifications

Holders of this job will obtain the following skills:

  • Contract Management

  • Market Research

  • Specification Writing

  • Problem Solving

Desired candidates possess the following requisite skills or experience applicable to the position:

  • eMARS

  • Manage Organization Budgets or Accounts

  • Procurement of Commodities and Services

  • Research Analysis

Additional Information:

  • Flexible schedule, limited travel, manage staff in an office and garage setting.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Six years of purchasing experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A master's degree in business administration will substitute for two years of the purchasing experience.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in purchasing will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis. Certification with the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing as a Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) will substitute for one year of the college requirement OR certification as a Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO) will substitute for two years of the college requirement.

Incumbents working in this job title perform duties in an office setting.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
