The American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) in New York City is one of the premier science, research and cultural institutions in the country. The AMNH is seeking a purchasing assistant to work with the Urban Advantage Program.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Review, approve and place teacher and school orders online and by phone, and maintain a filing system of records.

  • Submit purchase requisitions to purchasing department electronically using museum's internal system (Oracle).

  • Assist with research and cost comparisons for vendors to maintain cost effectiveness and quality of scientific supplies and materials.

  • Engage with Supplier to identify and manage time-sensitive, critical orders.

  • Monitor and maintain delivery schedules and due dates to ensure timely deliveries.

  • Manage and coordinate all returns and exchanges.

  • Liaise between UA Teachers, Suppliers, and AMNH.

Other Responsibilities to support Business Manager as needed:

  • Assist in admissions voucher counting, reporting, and reimbursement.

  • Process payments for vendors and contractors, including bus companies, and creating monthly reports.

  • Review and process stipends for Urban Advantage teachers.

  • Provide support to UA staff, and Gottesman Center staff, to assist in the delivery of the program and events.
