The American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) in New York City is one of the premier science, research and cultural institutions in the country. The AMNH is seeking a purchasing assistant to work with the Urban Advantage Program.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Review, approve and place teacher and school orders online and by phone, and maintain a filing system of records.
Submit purchase requisitions to purchasing department electronically using museum's internal system (Oracle).
Assist with research and cost comparisons for vendors to maintain cost effectiveness and quality of scientific supplies and materials.
Engage with Supplier to identify and manage time-sensitive, critical orders.
Monitor and maintain delivery schedules and due dates to ensure timely deliveries.
Manage and coordinate all returns and exchanges.
Liaise between UA Teachers, Suppliers, and AMNH.
Other Responsibilities to support Business Manager as needed:
Assist in admissions voucher counting, reporting, and reimbursement.
Process payments for vendors and contractors, including bus companies, and creating monthly reports.
Review and process stipends for Urban Advantage teachers.
Provide support to UA staff, and Gottesman Center staff, to assist in the delivery of the program and events.
