Position Summary

Discovery, Inc., the new global leader in real life entertainment with powerful brands such as Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, HGTV, Food Network, and Travel Channel, is searching for a Purchasing and Events Coordinator in New York, NY to join our Culinary team's Purchasing Department as part of the Food Network Kitchens.

In this very unique role, you'll be assisting and working closely with the Purchasing and Event Manager, to spearhead and support the food flow coming in and out of Food Network Kitchens for a variety of events, projects, shoots, shows, testing, the Food Network Magazine and beyond. You'll find every day is a little different but you'll be working with a variety of individuals from chefs, stewards, and culinary producers, to stylists, editors and more.

It is very important for the individual to be very focused while balancing their work load to complete their tasks daily. Food Network Kitchen's is a very fast pace atmosphere and the Coordinator has to think fast on their feet with anticipating and using best practices for maintaining everyday issues.


What You'll Be Doing

  • Spearhead and support the food flow coming in and out of Food Network Kitchens for a variety of events, projects, shoots, shows, testing, Food Network Magazine and beyond.

  • Coordinate, source and shop for groceries and equipment while keeping up to date with trends/techniques for these areas and products

  • Coordinate events and maintain monthly budgets for projects

  • Develop kitchen organization and waste management strategies

  • Keep current with industry and food trends as well as culinary research

Although we try to stick to the 8 hour work schedule, sometimes our work extends into evenings, holidays and weekends. Don't worry though, one of our core values is Work/Life Balance and we totally get that work is only one part of your life.


Who You Are

  • You have a culinary degree + 2 years working in a kitchen environment

  • You're able to move heavy boxes up to 50 lbs., as well as navigate the city quickly and efficiently with goods in tote

  • You're able to navigate goods in a grocery store or market quickly and efficiently

  • You're a creative master at cooking and baking techniques and have strong

  • You're capable of identifying all types of food from specialty to regular supermarket, high and low products and you have knowledge of numerous ethnic cuisines and food products.

  • You're familiar with Excel and are able to track budgets and products using this tool

  • You have that knack at anticipating and accommodating needs, requests and issues

  • You shine with a 'can do' positive attitude and love collaborating with multiple partners

  • You have impeccable organizational skills, accuracy, attention to detail, and make sure to always dot your 'i's and cross your 't's

  • You monitor timelines and adjust your work as needed, prioritizing the most important pieces to achieve incredible success.

  • You're a multi-tasker and professional who keeps it together and keeps rolling along even when things get tough.

  • You have excellent communication and follow-up skills and are capable of working on multiple projects in various stages of production

  • You get exhilarated working with talent on a show set and don't mind traveling or standing for longer periods.

VIEW JOBS 11/15/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-13T00:00 ROLE SUMMARY The Sr. Business Planning Associate, WRD Executive Operations will partner with the WRD Chief of Staff in delivering commitments and driving the day-to-day business operations for the Office of the President of WRD, through the handling of multiple priorities, decision making processes, and information flow to ensure deadlines and obligations are met. S. /He will contribute to the success of crucial WRD initiatives by providing strategic consultancy on a varied portfolio of activities, leading operational excellence activities and fostering partnerships internally and externally. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Operational Excellence * Partner with the WRD Chief of Staff to drive day-to-day, C-Suite operations for the WRD President's key interactions, meetings, and presentations, in coordination with various ELT and WRD-LT offices. * Serve as a thought partner and extension to the WRD Chief of Staff, ensuring careful prioritization and participation in critical activities. * Work proactively with WRD-LT Chiefs of Staff to ensure robust connectivity, planning and partnerships. * Provide advice and guidance to the WRD Chief of Staff pertaining to executive level internal events by optimizing and focusing time on the highest priority areas and taking primary responsibility for overseeing/driving the logistical aspects (e.g., offsites, site visits, Year Beginning Meeting, CEO Site Visits, EAC etc.) * Own the planning and execution of the President's Science & Culture Day visits at various WRD sites, partnering with the Chief of Staff and relevant stakeholders to ensure agendas reflect key priorities. * Create agendas, coordinate pre-read and presentation materials to ensure adequate content, issue and track meeting agreements and follow up on action items directly * Work in close collaboration with Finance to monitor the Executive Budget, ensuring project phasing and forecasting is accurate. Provide recommendations to the Chief of Staff in the Executive Budget's management and planning. * Partner with Communications to support planning and management of communications needs of the WRD Chief of Staff. * Management of process to collect and collate updates for WRDLT members mid-year and year-end reviews * Identify opportunities and drive initiatives to build and improve colleague engagement and culture and work closely with Communications to effectively promote such activities. * Proactively bring forward ideas for process improvements and more efficient operations. Project Management * Responsible for identifying, scoping, leading and implementing new processes and toolkits to guide internal WRD operations & drive efficiency and effectiveness gains across the organization. * Act as the lead and/or point person for the annual WRD Achievement Awards process by overseeing the process and activities from end to end, working closely with Communications, HR and BT partners to ensure alignment with organizational prorities, communicating goals and progress to key stakeholders and leveraging best-available technology capabilities to promote simplicity and efficiency. * Lead the development of an Operations Road Map to support efficient, consistent planning and management of critical enterprise meetings and events. * Partner with HR to drive efforts to improve inter-WRD site connectivity through cross-pollination and developing best practices. * Work independently in self-directed environment, and take accountability for decisions and outcomes External Partnerships * Advise Chief of Staff on matters related to relationship-building/ management and level of sponsorship of external organizations and societies that are complimentary to WRD's mission and goals. * Act as the point of contact and foster relationships with key external organizations, non-profits and societies to maximize the value of current partnerships and identify areas for potential growth and scope (e.g. NY Academy of Sciences, Galien Foundation, HBA, etc.). * Ensure delivery of benefits to Pfizer/WRD by working closely with relevant internal colleagues. * Manage and execute all types of contracts, e.g., sponsorships, research grants, etc. endorsed by the Office of the President. Administrative Support * Manage calendar and schedule meetings for the WRD executive/compliance office * Provide logistical support to group events, WRDLT meetings, team buildings, client meetings, etc. (meeting room reservation, catering, BT,…) * Maintain and update the WRDLT SharePoint * Maintain the Organizational Chart and provide new colleague onboarding support to WRDLT members based in NYHQ * Prepare expense reports and travel arrangements * Supply room support, purchase requisitions, generation of POs * Prepare yearly service agreements * Support Get Service requests and space planning * Serve as a back-up Exec Admin to the WRDM President BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Education * Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Life Sciences field Experience * 3-5 years of experience in the Biopharmaceutical industry - familiarity with Pfizer, particularly WRD and the President of WRD's Office, preferred * Proven ability in managing day-to-day planning and operational activities * Experienced in communicating and interacting with senior executive stakeholders * Experienced in managing multiple, competing tasks simultaneously; executing complex strategies * Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, across multiple lines; ability to manage a cross functional team of colleagues * Demonstrated understanding of systems, structures, and implementing efficient processes Attributes * Demonstrate expert collaboration and communication skills in a team environment, share knowledge, influence best-practices and coordinate workflow. * Demonstrate resourcefulness with proven ability to anticipate needs, prioritize responsibilities, manage multiple priorities with tight timelines, and take initiative with a minimal amount of supervision. * Strong project management and event management skills with demonstrated attention to detail * Possess a high energy level, sense of urgency, creativity, decisiveness, ability to work hard and well under pressure * Possess excellent communication skills with an ability to respond with professionalism in verbal and written communications with all levels of the organization * Know and model Pfizer Values and Pfizer Core Competencies PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Master's Degree in Life Sciences field preferred but not required Sunshine Act Pfizer reports payments and other transfers of value to health care providers as required by federal and state transparency laws and implementing regulations.
