Mendocino Forest Products Company, LLC (MFP) is seeking a Purchasing Agent to join our team based in Calpella, CA.
The base salary for this position is $65,000.00 to $80,000.00. Your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic locations, skills, education and/or experience. Please keep in mind that that the range published is the full base salary. We also offer a generous benefits package.
This position is responsible to procure materials or other goods and/or coordinates activities involved with purchasing products and services while developing and executing company policy, process and guidelines for Non-COGS purchasing. Position will work to maintain and oversee the Corporate Vendor Management and Electronic Purchasing System in conjunction with Manager, Purchasing and additional limited scope groups within the organization.
The Mendocino Companies (Mendocino Forest Products Company, Mendocino Redwood Company, Humboldt Redwood Company, Humboldt Sawmill Company, and Allweather Wood) own nearly 450,000 acres of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC C031337) certificated redwood and Douglas-fir timberland, constitute the largest waterborne wood treater in the Western USA, and is the largest producer of redwood lumber in the world. Collectively providing 950 employees and their families with excellent wages and benefits in communities throughout the Western USA. Additionally, the Mendocino Companies own and operate a 25-megaWatt biomass cogeneration power plant and wood pellet plant.
Responsibilities

Works with vendors to negotiate lower pricing
Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans
Responsible for negotiation of terms, condition and deliveries to ensure consistent flow of parts and consumables (MRO) to support various manufacturing plants
Identifies potential supplies and facilitates qualifying new suppliers
Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule
Maintains manual or computerized procurement records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories
Expedites delivery of goods to users
Prepare paperwork for grant and funding program applications
Prepares spreadsheets and obtains details for prices
Maintains vendor list of prospective subcontractors and materials/new products
Collects and enters bids into spreadsheets for evaluation by the Manager
Provides samples and information to staff as requested
Corresponds, issues and tracks Purchase Orders with outside vendors
Confirms with vendors delivery schedules to ensure Company can meet requirements
Creates PO's to Companies as required
Closes PO's in computer systems at completion as needed
Work as liaison between suppliers and internal customers for issue resolution or needs
Work with Purchasing Clerks as needed to back-up and provide information sharing
Oversight of supplier integration with business units
Purchase order resolution by researching missing PO from A/P invoices
Reporting MRO supply chain performance to manager
Evaluation and development of approved vendors and list as appropriate
Receive and review requisitions for goods or services based on purchasing approval levels
Qualifications
Associate degree (A.A. or A.S.) from a two-year college; or equivalent combination of education and a
Minimum of 3 years' experience in all aspects of electronic purchasing and development experience
Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportion and percentage
Application of basic algebra and geometry as needed
Ability to read and interpret written information, write clearly and informatively, edit for spelling and grammar, vary writing style to meet needs
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial report, and legal documents
Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to present numerical data effectively, and to effectively present information to management as requested
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
Knowledge of ERP software, order processing systems, project management software, spreadsheet and word processing software
Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community
Maintain confidentiality

Travel outside the local area but generally within the state, usually by car or plane up to 25% of the time
