Carpenter & Paterson, Inc. is currently hiring for a full-time Purchasing Agent to work out of our branch in Waggaman, LA. A Purchasing Agent will be responsible for purchasing materials, goods, and packaging supplies.
Essential Duties:
Locate vendors of materials, equipment, or supplies then determine product availability and terms of sale.
Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
Maintain records of items bought, costs, deliveries, product performances, and inventories.
Maintains record of supplier evaluations and performance.
Assist with inventory control.
Maintain a healthy and safe working environment.
Days/Shift:
Monday thru Thursday 8:00am
5:00pm and Friday 8:00am
2:30pm
Ideal Candidate:
Prior purchasing and inventory control experience in a distribution and/or manufacturing environment.
Advanced Microsoft Excel experience preferred.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to prioritize, plan, organize, and control work flow in a team environment.
Must be able to work under time pressures, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
Good computer and basic math skills, must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
