The Pump Technician is responsible for the repair, assembly and disassemble of downhole pumps.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with hands and wrenches, threaders, ball and seat testers, plunger miches, and barrel miches

  • Build well files per customers' fields

  • Prepare detailed reports and track trends to recommend changes in material and design to improve pump run and lower customer costs

  • Remedy chronic failures

  • Develop a system to double check pump components as to correct make up as to not be over tightened or loose

  • Forecast parts usage and work with suppliers to stay abreast of new technology

  • Learn and understand the different pump designs for gaseous, sandy and corrosive fluids

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma and/or equivalent.

  • Solid mechanical knowledge and mathematical background

  • Experience with / Knowledge of: Pumping Well mechanics, Stroke lengths, Corrosion of metal parts, Gas / Oil interface, H2S, Scale, Iron sulfide Problems

  • Knowledge of down hole and work over terms

  • Experience with rod string sizes, down hole tubing sizes and rod spacing

  • Organizational, problem solving and analytical skills

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

  • Valid driver's license and acceptable MVR at all times

  • Communication skills, both written and oral, with DNOW field personnel and customers

  • Ability to move, disassemble and re-assemble long, sometimes heavy, down hole pumps

  • Ability to work without supervision and possibly at a customer's location

Responsibilities Technical specialist and primary customer support contact to diagnose and execute complex repairs to engine products at the customer's site. Establishes and continually develops productive customer relations and ensures prompt and efficient attention to customer needs. Applies the use of specialized tools and follows documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete complex repairs at customer site. Performs preventative maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards on engines and related components in the field. Escalates unresolved issues to product specialists or supervisor. Coaches and develops technicians and/or apprentices and transfers knowledge and experience to others; may provide work direction; may review repair plans, parts lists, etc. Completes required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens. Identifies additional sales and service opportunities with customer. Completes training in line with skill and business requirements. Maintains service vehicle and tools for cleanliness and proper operation. Ensure adherence to all relevant Health Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to site management and to their supervisor. The Traveling Field Service Technician position requires the Technician to be available to work rotating assignments at various locations, based on customer and business needs. Position will also require technicians to travel 80% plus. This helps address the need to meet customer demand without having a lapse in service. Work schedule will consist of a dedicated number of days assigned at the work location and a week off, allowing for travel to and from assigned location. Rotational schedule will consist of 14 Days ON/7 Days OFF (ongoing cycle) Technician will receive the following during their 14-day on work schedule: Travel to/from assigned location. Travel expenses to be provided and paid by company, in accordance with Travel Policy. Skills Skill Level A Level II Technician plus: Ability to train Service Personnel to develop their diagnostic skills Able to identify opportunities for work process improvements and recommend appropriate action Able to develop and maintain productive working relationships Ability to prepare reports providing feedback on service interventions Able to understand and follow the Technical Support Request ((TSR) process Skill Level B Skill Level A plus: Ability to identify and resolve engine system failures relating to and impacted by component failure Ability to guide / coach other service technicians (including non-Cummins technicians) through complex service interventions and diagnostic issues Can resolve complex technical problems Education, Licenses, Certifications Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred) Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution Locally valid driving permit Experience Significant field service work experience Expert level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products Customer service experience Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred) Requires On-call, after hours, night shift, out of town/overnight stays in outside and Hazardous working conditions.
