Atria Books is seeking a Publicity Manager to work on higher-level PR campaigns and strategic planning for Atria's publishing program with an emphasis on One Signal Publishers, a newly launched imprint to publish books that contribute to the conversation around feminism, narrative nonfiction, and issues of social justice. The Publicity Manager will work closely with the publisher of One Signal Publishers to develop the list, communicate with authors and agents, and provide expertise throughout the publication process. Key to success will be creating a publicity strategy and plans that are executable, represent an astute use of resources and a good return on investment, and build sales. The Publicity Manager will report to the Deputy Director of Publicity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Creating original and compelling publicity campaigns for high-profile narrative nonfiction and current events titles.
Pitching and securing top national and local media, including print, radio, television, and online outlets.
Cultivating and maintaining substantive relationships with journalists, media, bloggers, and influencers in the political sphere.
Planning and executing multi-city book tours and author appearances, with a focus on large-format, ticketed theater events.
Representing One Signal Publishers at pitch and acquisition meetings to attract new authors and develop the list.
Writing press materials, including compelling press releases and creative pitch letters.
Advising authors on effective messaging and social strategies.
At least 5 years publicity experience, with a record of success in publicizing and promoting political titles.
Established network of political broadcast, print, and digital contacts.
Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and work independently.
Ability to manage multiple campaigns per month.
Superior verbal and written communication skills.
Exceptional organizational skills and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Publicity Assistant, and social media.
