Alpha Omega Publications is looking for a publications designer with the passion to inspire and prepare the next generation of students. In this role, you will join a team that produces award-winning educational products for the homeschool, private school, and Christian school markets.
The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and consistency along with exceptional layout and illustration skills. The publications designer will use software to create visual displays of lessons and resources in the production process of our print-based education materials.

A Day in the Life as Publications Designer
In filling this prepress position, you will be pre-flighting files and uploading them to a commercial printer. You will use Adobe InDesign and QuarkXpress to update, correct, revise, and perform other quality checks on existing layouts.
This process will require some image and illustration manipulation with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. The process involves an output of the final layout to the specific PDF format required by the commercial printer, and the uploading and approval of soft proofs through the printer`s web interface.
At other times, you will be designing and creating layouts for new courses or other support materials. You will work in a small team environment to determine the current priorities with the educational materials. The focus for each week will change depending on the needs of our customers and schools.
At least 3 years` experience producing multi-page layout print design (books, magazines, newspapers, etc.) with a high level of experience working in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and QuarkXpress.
Ability to apply principles of good print design in education publications.
Patience and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, and work collaboratively with writers, editors, and the production team through multiple revisions, and to sustain long book production phases.
Well-developed electronic file management and organizational skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
BA or AA degree in graphic design or related field.
Well-developed technical skills in creating digital pre-press output and troubleshooting.
