Public Works/Engineering - Civil Engineering Tech/Development Services Center

The purpose of the class is to provide complex technical and civil engineering support to the Public Works Senior Civil Engineer assigned to support the Development Services Center. The class works under general supervision independently developing work methods and sequences.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

• Three (3) years of increasingly responsible, full-time equivalent engineering experience in the areas of project design, and review/analysis of projects for conformance of established standards or closely related experience.

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering is preferred.

• Must be Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation certified combined administrator or obtain certification within one year of employment.

• Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton's criteria.

• Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.

Additional Requirements

The incumbent may be considered "essential personnel" during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
