Freese and Nichols is seeking a Public Works Project Funding Analyst in any of our office locations. As a Public Works Project Funding Analyst, you will advise and help our public clients identify options for funding water-related, transportation, and urban design infrastructure. Our clients include cities, counties, and utilities. You will advise our clients and internal technical teams on state, federal, local, and private funding strategies and alternatives including low interest loans, grants, disaster relief and hazard mitigation funding programs for water, wastewater, stormwater, urban planning/design, and parks and recreation projects.

  • Supporting our technical teams by advising clients on meeting requirements for available funds

  • Analyzing financial needs and opportunities for clients

  • Analyzing project and program funding and financing options

  • Developing a business case for infrastructure investments

  • Leading the development of written reports and supporting grant applications

  • Supporting and/or leading client meetings and workshops

  • Providing strategic support in all phases of infrastructure planning and project development

  • Track funding projects step-by-step through the funding life cycle

  • Assist with client reporting and program compliance, as needed

  • Interacting with local, state, and federal governments/agencies

  • Research and build database of client needs, funding sources and current pursuits

  • Create and maintain materials for clients, both internal and external, on funding

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, mathematics/data analytics, marketing, communications, public administration or related field

  • Experience with grant strategy, writing and management

  • Experience with data collection and analysis

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Advanced professional writing skills

Preferred

  • Experience in the architectural, engineering and construction (AEC) industry

  • Experience assisting government entities in external funding pursuits

  • Knowledge of water, transportation or municipal sector infrastructure challenges and/or capital planning process

  • Experience with federal grants (e.g. FEMA, HUD, USBR, USEDA, etc.)

  • Experience with disaster recovery and hazard mitigation and transportation grants and funding mechanisms a plus
