The City of Gresham is pleased to announce two opportunities within the Water Operations Division of Environmental Services for Public Utility Worker Senior. These are lead roles that are responsible for preparing for and leading Water Operation crews in the construction and maintenance of public works water facilities.

Position Description
What you will get to do:
Lead water operations crews
Mentor and train water crews to ensure knowledgeable and safe construction standards are met
Schedule daily tasks for work crew
Submit all job paperwork including equipment and parts used, dump tickets, equipment purchase receipts, personnel time and 'as-builts' as needed
Communicate expectations, safety concerns, needed equipment and parts for project completion
Lead installation of water system infrastructure
Install new infrastructure including water distribution mains to enhance capacity of service availability to residential and commercial users
Operate a variety of vehicles, trailers, equipment, and tools to perform duties such as a hydraulic backhoe, excavator, loader, dump truck, Vactor, shovel pick, mower, compressor, and others
Maintain and service assigned tools and equipment to include changing oil, air filters, mower blades, and other items as needed
Request quotes for the purchase of equipment and materials
Maintain existing infrastructure by repair, replacement, inspection or exercising water system infrastructure
Order parts and materials to ensure timely delivery for the project
Make connections to water mains using specialized tapping equipment
Serve as the Water Division after hours contact
Participate in the weekly rotation for the Water Operations after hours phone duty
Be available for occasional after hours work either routine or emergency related
Respond to contractor and public inquiries
Field questions from residents regarding residential services, water quality or pressure related issues
Field questions from contractors regarding design standards, cross connection device standards, meter sizing or construction standards

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:
Knowledge of American Water Works Association (AWWA) and the City of Gresham construction standards
Ability to safely operate a variety of water related construction equipment
Ability to read and understand engineered drawings
Skill to effectively motivate, coordinate, and evaluate other Public Utility Worker performance
Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Knowledge of modern office practices, methods and software applications with an ability to operate office equipment and technology resources
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to include presenting information, proposals, and recommendations clearly and persuasively
Physical ability to perform job duties with or without accommodation
Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination of qualifying education and experience equivalent to three to six years will be considered.
Required licenses and certifications:
CPR/AED and First Aid certification required
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Confined Space certification required
Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) Flagger certification required
Oregon or Washington Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A with Air Brakes and Tanker endorsements required
Oregon Health Authority (OHA) Water Distribution Operator Level II certification is required within 6 months of hire
