This position is eligible for telework 5 days a week, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. A teleworker is considered Remote-centered if they work 50% or more of their time from an alternate work location. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

The Compliance Assurance Division is seeking a Public Utilities Regulatory Analyst V to help oversee electrical corporations' compliance with their Wildfire Mitigation Plans.

Under general direction of the Program and Project Supervisor of the Compliance Assurance Division, Audits and Standards Branch of the Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety, the incumbent serves as a senior regulatory analyst and subject matter expert for the Division for wildfire matters.

The Compliance Assurance Division is responsible for assessing electrical corporations' performance in meeting the goals, objectives, and targets of their Wildfire Mitigation Plans, as well as ensuring that each electrical corporation is reducing its risk of igniting a catastrophic wildfire. To do this, the Division reviews documents, analyzes data, performs audits, conducts field inspections, and shares its findings with the electrical corporations and the public.

Department Information

The mission of the Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety (Energy Safety) is to advance long-term utility infrastructure safety through data-driven, wildfire mitigation evaluation and compliance, excavation standards and education, in collaboration with local, state, and federal agencies, and in support of improved utility infrastructure, safety culture, and innovation.

1.Describe how your previous professional experience prepares you for this position, including performing technical analysis, drafting and reviewing reports, and participating in large, complex projects. What experience with which MicroSoft products do you have?

2.The candidate will be expected to coordinate their work with colleagues in Energy Safety and external agencies such as CAL FIRE and the CA Public Utilities Commission. Describe an experience where you were expected to work with a broad group with different skill sets to accomplish your work. What project coordination approaches did you utilize? What "soft skills" did you develop?

3.Describe any utility regulation experience you may have including your roles and responsibilities.

4.Describe your data analysis, findings reporting, and presenting of results and recommendations experience you may have. Also describe your analysis software experience.

Failure to include and complete the SOQ may result in disqualification for interview. Resumes and cover letters will not take the place of the SQQ.
