About Simi Valley
The City of Simi Valley, home of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, was incorporated in 1969. It is a General Law City with a Council/Manager form of government. Simi Valley encompasses an area of 39 square miles and is located in the southeast portion of Ventura County. The current estimated population is 126,878, yet Simi Valley maintains a unique balance of open space and City amenities.

Description
As an intern at the City of Simi Valley, you will be provided with on-the-job training and experience working in local government while you continue to work on obtaining your educational degree. In addition, you will build employment skills, and establish a professional network.
Details:
Start Date: Monday, August 12, 2024
Temporary, part-time position
In-person in Simi Valley (we do not offer remote internships)
$16 per hour for a maximum of 20 hours per week
Up to a maximum of one calendar year (depending on department need and budget)
Multiple departments and focus areas available (see list below)
Most assignments are flexible around your schedule during regular business hours!
Qualifications:
Current enrollment in an accredited college, university, or community college and enrolled in at least three (3) units of academic coursework. If hired, you still need to continue to be enrolled and attend school to remain in the position.
Typical Student Intern Duties:
Prepare, from rough draft, or verbal instructions, such materials as reports, letters, receipts, lists, orders, schedules, notices, statistical data, social media, and copies of documents.
Provide customer service to the public or act as a receptionist, answer routine questions of the public, in person or by telephone.
Perform all types of filing (alphabetical, numerical, etc.)
Post data, keep records, and prepare reports using predetermined forms and procedures.
Perform work related to bills, orders, notes, receipts, permits, licenses, etc.
Operate various office machines or equipment requiring little specialized training.
Collect and deliver correspondence, records, packages, etc.
Open, sort, and route incoming mail; stuff, seal, stamp, meter, and register outgoing mail.
Search records and files for data.
Compare and proofread documents; take notes.
Sort and arrange documents, correspondence, or other material.

What Happens After You Apply?:
