Job Title: Public Safety System Engineering Specialist
Job Description:
Job Summary
Provide engineering, design, and consulting for video surveillance, intrusion, and panic systems. Review architectural and engineering plans; direct, guide, and advise university staff, engineers, designers and outside architectural and engineering agencies regarding system design and specifications. Recommend alternate designs. Create, review, and revise specifications in the consultant's handbook. Create, maintain and implement maintenance/upgrade strategies for campus video surveillance and alarm receiving equipment. Train users on new and existing systems. Provide user support when needed. Serve as the FCC liaison for new and existing radio station authorizations. Troubleshoot and repair digital traffic message boards, outdoor warning siren equipment, in-house UPS systems, fire alarm system, and other mission critical systems as needed. On 24-hour call-back for emergencies.

What We Are Looking For
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, or related field
2-3 years of experience in video surveillance, intrusion, and panic systems
Equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered
For example, an Associate's degree and 4 years of relevant experience or a High School Diploma/GED and 6 years of relevant experience
PREFERRED:
Certifications in the following:
Milestone Certified Integration Technician
Axis Certified Professional
BICSI with emphasis on Electronic Security Systems
Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design
SKILLS:
REQUIRED:
Demonstrated work organizational skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Leadership skills
Knowledge of video surveillance, intrusion, and panic system concepts, principles, and practices
Basic knowledge of server/client hardware, operating systems, and networking required
Valid driver's license
