Position Objective:

This position is under the supervision of the Public Safety Manager for assigned shift of the Security Department and is responsible for the protection, safeguarding, and security of assets and personnel during the night shift from 11:00pm - 7:30am.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent the department in a positive and professional manner at all times within and outside of the company.

  • Provide high quality customer service.

  • Supervises security officers ensuring proper appearance, efficiency, and completion of assigned duties.

  • Notifies superior of major crimes or disturbances within area and takes necessary action until arrival of superior.

  • Reports safety problems to appropriate personnel for correction.

  • Trains security guards on duties and responsibilities.

  • Trains security guards on duties and responsibilities.

  • Inspects facility on prescribed basis for safety violation

  • Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking or carrying forbidden articles and apprehends or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.

  • Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes and security doors left unlocked.

Sounds alarm or calls police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons. Permits authorized persons to enter property.

  • Records and reports data such as property damage, unusual occurrences and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment, for use of supervisory staff.

  • Responsible for writing incident reports and reviewing subordinate's incident reports, in a timely manner and in accordance with department SOP.

  • Maintains Crowd control in and around the property. Directs the public to designated parking areas.

  • Responsible for maintaining all department equipment in good working condition.

Personal Qualifications:

  • Must be familiar with IRB rules and regulations and ensure compliance with the same.

  • Maintain literary of department operating procedures

  • Ensure all subordinates understand and properly execute department standard operating procedures.

Education, Training and Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.

Bilingual a plus.

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Preferred:
1 year security experience or 1 year college level courses in Criminal Justice/Security
1 year supervisory experience
