Deadline Extended Patrol Officer, Minimum Salary: $41,258 per year (Salary commensurate with education & experience; potential for sign-on bonus as well), USC Aiken University Police
The Patrol Officer provides law enforcement, security, and protection for the University of South Carolina Aiken community and property. These are certified police officers in accordance with SC Code of Laws, empowered with full arrest and police authority.
They enforce campus rules and regulations, local, state, and federal laws. Executes duties of patrol officer, provides event security, assists in critical incidents, and provides emergency first response.
Minimum Requirements: High school diploma.
Must be 21 years of age, be physically qualified and have no criminal record.
Must pass a background investigation and complete the SC Criminal Justice Academy and be certified by the SC Law Enforcement Training Council before assuming police duties. Duty hours include nights and weekends.
Must receive certification as a Medical First Responder. This position will require that the successful candidate pass a pre-employment alcohol and drug test as well as be subject to random, post incident /accident, reasonable suspicion and rehabilitation monitoring drug and alcohol testing consistent with USC HR Policy 1.95, Drug and Alcohol Testing.
Preferred Requirements: Prefer 1 year of experience in Public Safety/Law Enforcement.
Knowledge of proper law enforcement officer behavior and role.
Knowledge of modern law enforcement techniques and procedure. Knowledge of how to collect and preserve evidence.
Knowledge of the legal rights of suspects, victims, and law enforcement personnel.
Knowledge of the laws of South Carolina, and policies of the University. Knowledge of the functions and interrelationships of other law enforcement agencies; and skill in the operation of law enforcement vehicles, weapons, and communications equipment. Certified through the SC Criminal Justice Academy.

Sign-On Bonus:
$7,500 sign-on bonus new hire, who was as an applicant was currently working either as a Class 1 Law Enforcement Officer certified by the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy or has been inactive with a law enforcement agency for less than 12 months and is able to have Class 1 certification immediately reinstated upon hire. Executed as follows:
$1,750 after successful completion field training;
$750 after successful completion of 1st anniversary;
$2,500 after successful completion of 2nd anniversary; and
$2,500 after successful completion of 3rd anniversary.
