Summary of Job Duties:

The Public Safety Officer is responsible for the enforcement of traffic and criminal laws and parking regulations. This position is governed by law enforcement standards, state and federal laws, and agency policy.

Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma. Must possess valid Arkansas driver's license; must be at least 21 years of age; must be a citizen of the United States; must be able to pass a comprehensive personal and criminal history background investigation; must meet the minimum physical and employment requirements as a law enforcement officer; must be certified by the Arkansas Law Enforcement Certification Training in accordance with ACA 12-9-106, or an approved law enforcement training academy.

Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. Must not have either entered a plea of guilty or been convicted of a Felony, or Domestic Violence Offense. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
