DEFINITION Under general supervision monitors computerized alarm and control systems; communicates by radio, telephone and remote control; maintains records and make reports concerning routine and emergency safety and security services; and performs related work as required. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Monitors a computerized alarm system: monitors multiple radio channels for local police, and district frequency; monitors closed circuit TV surveillance of high security areas; monitors computerized alarm systems for detection of intrusion, freezers, and refrigerators temperatures; and enters data in computerized/unit status and master watch logs indicating disposition occurring during shift; completes equipment usage logs; and maintains alarms service log.

This recruitment will result in a merged list of open and promotional candidates. The current position is located at the District Maintenance, Operations, and Transportation department.

The current position works Saturday and Sunday nights from 8:00 PM to 4:30 AM, regardless of holidays. The eligibility list will be valid for one year and used to fill the current open position and used for future vacancies if needed. Final selection of appointees will be made from the top three ranks who are "ready and willing" to accept an assignment.

Personnel Commission Rule 4240.1 F: When fewer than three (3) ranks of available eligible candidates remain on an eligibility list and the appointing authority has requested certification of additional eligible candidates, the list may be terminated by the Personnel Director.
