Job Description Summary
This is a recruitment for a short-term/temporary position.
This recruitment will be open until the positions are filled. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
Under general supervision of the Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police and/or Police Sergeant, provides general campus security and enforcement of rules and regulations governing parking, use of college buildings, and grounds; student escorts and transports; motorist assistance; assists campus visitors, faculty, staff, and students; and performs related work as required.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Incumbents in this position support student learning outcomes and institutional effectiveness by supporting campus security, including responding to emergencies and assisting Campus Police Officers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Reports vandalism, theft, or other crimes;
Answers telephone calls and routes calls to necessary personnel;
Provides all public safety, community and county service information to faculty and students
Assists motorists with jump-starts, unlocks, or similar;
Provides escorts on campus;
Assists Campus Police Officers in responding to emergencies;
Performs other related duties as required.

Current security or policing best practices;
Current technologies, personal computer, and associated office software such as word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and/or database software;
Correct usage of English, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary; and
District policies and procedures.
Ability to:
Maintain confidential information;
Maintain a professional grooming standard as to operate safety equipment
Maintain composure and interact tactfully and effectively;
Follow written and oral instructions;
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties; and
Demonstrate a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students and of staff and students with physical and learning disabilities.
Physical ability to:
Read and comprehend printed matter and text and data on computer monitors;
Communicate intelligibly and effectively via speech, telephone, written correspondence, and/or email;
Sit or stand for extended periods of time;
Operate vehicles and or golf carts for long periods of time;
Lift and/or carry (50) pounds.
