Public Safety Officer
This position is under the direct supervision of the department supervisors and the Security Manager for assigned shift of the Security Department and is responsible for the protection, safeguarding, and security of assets, personnel, customers and all visitors.
Our security officers are here to promote safety and security to Arlington International guests, employees, and the facility. We are willing to provide on the job training to individuals with a can-do attitude. These seasonal positions begin in April and last through October, but exceptional performance and conduct may result in a full time position! Vigilance, dedication, and reliability are a must!
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Continuously patrol buildings and grounds, docks or work sites. Racecourse property to include, but not limited to, Grandstand, Trackside, Backstretch, and Parking Areas
Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are in proper working order and secure, in accordance with access control policy
Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking or carrying forbidden articles and apprehends or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts
Inspects equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has occurred
Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes and security doors left unlocked
Observes departing personnel to guard against theft of company property
Sounds alarm or calls police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons. Permits authorized persons to enter property.
Records and reports data such as property damage, unusual occurrences and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment, for use of supervisory staff.
Maintains Crowd control in and around the property. Directs the public to designated parking areas.
Review and understands the departments standard operating procedures
Diligent in managing and executing standard operating procedures
Work as security team member in assisting as additional requests arise
Incident response and report writing
Other duties as assigned
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
Ability to write detailed correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Flexible schedule / availability required (week-ends, nights, and holidays).
Education, Training and Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
