THIS IS A NON CIVIL SERVICE POSITION

The Office of the State's Attorney is seeking to fill the position of Public Relations Officer for the Communications Unit. The Communications Unit is responsible for external communications efforts including media relations, social media programs, and all agency promotional initiatives. This full-time position is located at 120 E. Baltimore Street, Baltimore, MD.

The Public Relations Officer will be responsible for managing all agency external communications efforts. This role will help to maintain agency image and increase public awareness.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborates with the Communications Director to develop public relations strategies for current and future agency programs and initiatives

  • Cultivates relationships with media outlets

  • Serves as primary point of contact for all media inquiries and coordinates responses

  • Develops high-quality media statements, press releases, media advisories, pitches, website copy and other agency related content

  • Drafts engaging and thoughtful talking points and speeches for agency leadership

  • Monitors and disseminates all relevant agency print, online, television, radio and social media coverage

  • Coordinates and staffs radio and television appearances for agency leadership

  • Organizes agency press conferences and media events

  • May coordinate and review the work of other Communications Unit team members

  • Some evening and weekend work required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred applicants will have a bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field

  • 5 7 Years of experience in public relations, marketing or related field

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; strong copywriting and content creation skills

  • Well versed in all public relations principles and techniques

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working external relationships with media and partner agencies as well as internal relationships at all levels of the agency

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Experience managing all major social media platforms i.e. Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram?

SALARY: $60,655.00 - $97,277.00 plus benefits

You will be designing a wide variety of things across digital and offline media. To be successful in this position, you'll need to be a self-starter, capable of conceptualizing and delivering brilliant creative ideas, and show amazing attention to detail. Graphic Designer Responsibilities: * Planning concepts by studying relevant information and materials. * Illustrating concepts by designing examples of art arrangement, size, type size and style and submitting them for approval. * Preparing finished art by operating necessary equipment and software. * Coordinating with outside agencies, art services, web designer, marketing, printers, and colleagues as necessary. * Contributing to team efforts by accomplishing tasks as needed and in a timely manner. * Communicating with clients about layout and design. * Creating a wide range of graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos, and websites with software such as photoshop, adobe illustrator and InDesign. * Reviewing final layouts and suggesting improvements when necessary. Minimum Qualifications: * Must be majoring or have a degree in graphic design or a related field. * Must have strong portfolio showcasing graphic examples * Must be a full or part-time college student * Must have reliable transportation * Must be receiving a college credit * Must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week Qualifications and Skills * Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field. * Experience as a graphic designer or in related field. * Demonstrable graphic design skills with a strong portfolio. * Proficiency with required desktop publishing tools, including Photoshop, InDesign Quark, and Illustrator. * A strong eye for visual composition. * Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines. * Able to give and receive constructive criticism. * Understanding of marketing, production, website design, corporate identity, product packaging, advertisements, and multimedia design. * Experience with computer-aided design.
