Ingersoll Rand isseeking a PR / External Communications Manager to join the
Corporate Communications team. Reporting to the external communications andreputation leader, the manager will help build and protect the company'sreputation through external communications programs, including executivevisibility and speaking engagements; thought leadership; media relations;corporate reputation awards/rankings; social media; community relations andphilanthropy; issues management and crisis communications; and corporatereputation event management. The responsibilities are relevant to ourbusinesses, create excitement and build equity among Ingersoll Rand'sstakeholders, including customers, employees, shareholders, communities,nonprofit organizations and media. Will closely coordinate with sectors andregions, marketing, legal, the Center for Energy Efficiency and Sustainability,HR and employee communications.
Communications Plans,Materials and Opportunity Development
Develop and execute external communications plans thatdemonstrates a link between desired business outcomes and communicationsactivities
Create targeted media lists, get to know traditional and new mediareporters and their story needs, and develop and execute pitches that securepositive media coverage
Identify and secure speaking engagements for enterprise,functional and SBU leaders
Create PowerPoint presentations, speeches, bylined articles, factsheets, background documents and Q&A for executive visibility and thought leadership
Prepare leaders for media, speaking and thought leadershipopportunities; facilitate media interviews and follow-ups
Build effective relationships and deep understanding of businessneeds to identify relevant, compelling and engaging content across theorganization and maximize appropriate use of content across all communicationschannels
Develop corporate reputation awards program
Develop messages and stories to promote our philanthropy,sustainability, workforce, technology and other key enterprise themes.
Monitor the news and use software to analyze trends and collectmedia coverage for Ingersoll Rand and select competitors; analyze coverage andcreate quarterly dashboard report to present findings
Must possess strong project management, problemsolving, listening and written and oral communication skills
Must be able to work well with diverse groups, be a team player,possess analytical and "client service" skills, be an innovative thinker, and aself-starter
Must excel and thrive in fast-paced environments; globalexperience a plus
Will have the ability to manage project timelines and determinework flow effectively and appropriately; computer proficiency in Word,PowerPoint and Excel required
Undergraduate degree or equivalent, preferably in communications,business management or marketing. MBA is a plus
5-8 years directly related experience (i.e. public relations,corporate philanthropy, financial communications), preferably for a Fortune 500company with diverse product categories and customer segments
