The Marketing Copywriter supports the Philanthropy & Communications Team's efforts to grow NHMU's brand and drive museum admissions by promoting exhibitions, events, and science stories while maintaining brand standards across various marketing channels. As a valued member of our team, the Marketing Copywriter will assume a variety of responsibilities with emphases on copywriting for various channels, email marketing, website content management, and campaign analysis. An enthusiastic self-starter with an interest in science, a familiarity with email marketing, and experience in copywriting or journalism will excel in this position.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Copywriting: Produce compelling copywriting for a variety of channels including blog articles, marketing emails, postcards, newsletters, social media posts, webpages, and campaign reports.

  • Email Marketing: Take a leading role in the Museum's email marketing using Constant Contact, and implement automated emails and regular A/B testing. Secondary responsibilities will include:

  • Website Management: Using a Drupal 10 CMS, build, review, and edit website content including that produced by other departments to ensure accuracy and adherence to copy and design standards.

  • Campaign Reporting: Generate reports to analyze marketing efforts using Google Analytics, social media analytics, Constant Contact campaign performance, and other tools.

  • Outreach: Conduct occasional outreach marketing by tabling at community events.

  • Constituent Relationship Management (CRM): Conduct occasional constituent relationship management in the Museum's CRM and Constant Contact to maintain healthy databases for email and direct mail campaigns.

  • Podcast: When time permits, continue advancing the Museum's podcast goals.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Mass Communications, English, Liberal Arts, or a related area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. Experience in desktop publishing, word processing, computer networks and web page design preferred. Experience in public relations work or the print news media also preferred.

Preferences

● Experience in journalism or copywriting.

● Proficiency in AP style with a passion for the Oxford comma.

● Experience with Constant Contact or similar email marketing platform.

● Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

● Experience providing marketing support to internal and external audiences.

● Interest in science and natural history.
