Position Summary

This individual will assist investigators with complex clinical research studies that use systems science, primarily system dynamics, and participatory design methodologies to increase the translation of products into routine practice. The coordinator will spend the majority of their time assisting with a project in collaboration with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This project focuses on understanding and improving pediatric cancer survivorship and cancer care globally. This individual's role may expand to multiple research studies simultaneously. This individual will work as part of a team as well as an individual to perform duties and responsibilities required to meet project needs. Methodologic skills in systems science (e.g. group model building) and participatory design (e.g, human centered design) are preferred but may also be acquired. Primary responsibilities for this position include managing and assisting with day-to-day activities of studies and the research lifecyle, including data collection and analyses, developing reports and other products, and serving as a liaison with the school, sponsoring agency, community, and study participants.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordinating components of project protocol. May make decisions regarding planning and implementation of the protocol.

  • Assist with regulatory requirements and reporting, including the preparation of amendments to protocols and/or modifications to study design as appropriate.

  • Assists in writing study protocols, data collection instruments and coding, recruitment materials and other research forms.

  • Collect, manage, and support data analysis of quantitative and qualitative data in collaboration with the PI as applicable and appropriate. This individual will specifically focus on project activities related to systems science and participatory design methods.

  • Facilitates workshops, sessions, and other participant engagement activities as needed.

  • Collaborate in the preparation of manuscripts for publications and preparation of grant proposals to sponsoring agencies;

  • Coordinates the development of forms, questionnaires, and the application of research techniques, specifically focused on systems science and participatory design methods.

  • Reviews journals, abstracts and scientific literature to keep abreast of new developments and to obtain information regarding previous studies to aid in the planning of new studies.

  • With increasing independence, prepares oral or written presentations or reports and analyses setting forth progress trends and provides recommendations or conclusions of the same.

  • Performs other duties incidental to the work described herein.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year experience in public health, epidemiological, behavioral medicine, psychological, sociological, anthropological, clinical, or urban planning research

  • Working knowledge of (or particular interest in) systems science and participatory design techniques and methodologies used to understand clinical care and causal pathways and develop web-based tools that meets the needs of users and fit the clinic context.

  • Working knowledge of techniques and methodologies used in developing, coordinating, and managing clinical public health research projects.

  • Working knowledge of database management, spreadsheet, and qualitative or quantitative data analysis software.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of two years of clinical or public health research or practicum experience; a combination of relevant work and education equaling six years may substitute for this requirement.

Salary Range

$51,600.00 - $77,400.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
