    In addition to the compensation above, this position is eligible for location pay ($4,000/year). Responsibilities The Public Health Program Nurse (PHPN) will work in collaboration with the Department of Health's NYS Asthma Control Program to advance a set of evidence-based strategies promoted under the NYS Children's Asthma Initiative, implemented under a NYS contract with the American Lung Association. This will include serving as a liaison with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and local health departments located within the Metropolitan Area Regional Office service area to drive collaboration and coordination of resources dedicated to addressing health related social needs and improving asthma-related health outcomes among children, families, and communities disproportionately impacted by asthma. The PHPN will engage multi-sector partners including health systems, schools, early childcare providers, local health departments, community-based organizations, and other community partners in disseminating NYS Children's Asthma Initiative programs, training, education, and resources.

    The PHPN will provide training and technical assistance to implementation partners, monitor asthma initiative data tracking and performance measures, and drive partner advancement of NYS Children's Asthma Initiative objectives. Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing AND a license and current registration as a professional registered nurse in NYS AND four years of experience planning, evaluating, or administering health services or teaching in a health related program; OR an Associate's degree in Nursing AND a license and current registration as a professional registered nurse in NYS AND six years of experience planning, evaluating, or administering health services or teaching in a health related program. A Master's degree in nursing may substitute for one year of experience planning, evaluating, or administering health services or teaching in a health related program.

    Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with family health and/or chronic disease prevention and management activities, including maternal and child health services, asthma management and control, and care coordination to manage clinical care and address health-related social needs or social determinants of health. Current certification with the National Board for Respiratory Care Asthma Educator Specialist (AE-C) credential or interest in pursuing. Experience in oversight, implementation, and evaluation of public health and preventive health programs, as well as promoting public health messages.

    Experience supervising staff. Experience managing multiple tasks, developing and delivering educational materials, coordinating training activities, delivering technical assistance, and contributing to policy development. Demonstrated proficiency with computer-based software packages such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc.

    Conditions of Employment Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

    Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

    Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Travel, up to 10% of the time, will be required. This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location.
